Dear Nissan LEAF Friends,

we need your help for our study project!
We are conducting an anonymous survey about the Nissan LEAF. We will use the data only for our study project and don’t give it to third parties! It will take maximum 5 minutes.

Thank you very much,
Fabian

Done!

I normally don't advocate leasing, but the ROI on that battery scenario (at least for US prices) was around 6 years...

Thank you, also for the additional information about the ROI!

If I can make a suggestion:

I'd add a "I do not care about any aspect of sustainability" to the question about aspects of sustainability. If I were to buy a Leaf, it wouldn't be for green reasons. It'd be because I do 95% of my driving in a 60-mile radius these days and electric makes a lot of sense for that. So I wasn't able to answer that question honestly since I don't really care about any of those aspects of sustainability. I just have interest in electric cars for local driving.

did the survey too. The thought of getting hit after 5-6 years with a catastrophic battery replacement bill is a big motivation to lease an electric car instead of owning one.

@MinisterofDOOM: Yes, you might be right. That should have been an option too.

I am with James on this one, with Nissan warranty being 5 years/60k, leasing the battery makes a bit of sense, because even if you don't need it replaced you should be able to get a new one after the lease is up, right? Also makes a lot of sense if you drive a lot of miles...

I suspect replacing the batteries when the lease ends is at the discretion of the lessor.

Yes, I agree too. Why is it that every survey assumes that people always buy something for only one reason? The "other" write-in category should not be ignored...

Thanks a lot for all your help! We have reached over 250 participants and half of them were Nissan Leaf owners. It has been a great help!

For all of you who have not taken the survey yet, here is the link:

We will keep it up until Wednesday, then we analyze the outcome.
