Awesome job Nissan!

*************************************************************NASHVILLE — Nissan executives report that early consumer demand for their new 2008 Rogue compact crossover is exceeding expectations.

"It's in the very early days, but we are pleased with both the traffic and sales we've seen on the car" Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager of the Nissan division, told Inside Line.

The all-new Rogue, which was introduced at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, is an aggressively styled, front-wheel-drive model that is aimed squarely at the pacesetters in the emerging compact-crossover segment: Toyota's RAV-4 and Honda's CR-V.

"Small crossovers are the fastest-growing [vehicle] segment, and we haven't had an entry there," Bosley conceded. "We think that, going into that segment right now, the timing is excellent, and so far we're actually exceeding our expectations."

Bosley called Rogue "a good combination of versatility, good storage features, styling and performance, and ride and handling. Particularly the style and handling are going to set that car apart."

Next up for Nissan in significant product launches: the Infiniti EX, a smaller companion to the Infiniti FX crossover that the company hopes will broaden its appeal in that important segment.

What this means to you: With gasoline prices showing signs of digging in at around $3 a gallon, it's always good to have more choices in the segment that provides the best combination of fuel economy and utility. — Dale Buss, Correspondent

Found this on Fox Business:

"Nissan Motors on Monday posted a 6.1% rise in November U.S. sales to 80,683 cars and trucks, with sales of the all-new Rogue crossover helping drive the improvement."
