The short answer is yes. With the iPod interface, the iPod's controls are disbled and all of the funtions are now controlled by the radio. It also does some other changes that are worth mentioning, most significantly is it automatically changes the playback to "repeat all". That annoys the crap out of me, but have a playlist setup that keeps this from being an issue.bdu wrote:I've been considering picking up a Nissan iPod interface for my Versa, but a real deal-breaker for me is if it uses the iPod's "Advanced Mode" control protocol that turns off the iPod's own UI and buttons in exchange for greater remote control of it's feature-set.
Personally, all I really want/need is to be able to track up/down from my steering wheel buttons and a less clunky way to charge the iPod and get the audio into the head unit.
Anyone have experience with one of these to tell me what it does? Thanks...
I got mine from the dealer. This was also back in July when there really wasn't any other option. I'm still not sure if there's anywhere that has anything different. Check Crutchfield or your local audio dealers. If you get the one from the dealership or the equivalent, it's very easy to install yourself. (check my "how to".)Johniboi wrote:im planning on getting the interface also. But im trying to find a decent price for it..anybodygot any info on that?
The buttons on the head unit don't function like they say with the ipod interface. It's really quite a FUBAR situation. The little booklet that came with the interface tells you what buttons are supposed to work for the menus and such, but I gave up quickly because they don't really match up to our head unit right, and it's really quite a pain when you're in the car and want to change things around.KimberKenobi wrote:*Holy Bump!*
But here's a question... has anyone with the stock adapter tried to use the "RPT RNDM" button that is on the stereo and does this shuffle/repeat/etc. the playlist??
for that price your steering wheel buttons would be useless.JoshH wrote:For that price, you could buy a new headunit that works with an i-pod. Though, I don't know how that would work out with the steering wheel buttons.
And for that price, you could have your stereo stolen within the week (like others around here have had happen). Any time I have ever changed out the head unit, the new one ALWAYS got stolen. After the third time I decided I would always keep the stock head unit and do what I could to make that one work for my purposes.JoshH wrote:For that price, you could buy a new headunit that works with an i-pod.
