I am watching a show for the Tokyo Auto Show and saw this car. The car looks much better at the auto show then in this set of pictures. My first thought was no, but this is a concept car and so it comes down to the parts.

The tail light concept for example I like, that is the idea of the turn signals taking the shape of the tail light in a thin inner line that can be easily seen from the side. The idea of the suicide rear doors where the door handles all come together in one location. No large side mirrors, instead appear to be cameras so they can be fixed in position. The headlights with a thin lit section located with the hood and lower fender area.

The exhaust integrated into the rear bumper is a nice touch. The windshield wrapping over the top, maybe this could wrap up and over to the moon roof which could open. On a black car this could be a nice design cue.

Inside one item I never really like so far on the M has been the controls for the AV unit. On this car that is separated which while I don't like the dash, this I do like along with the much larger display itself.

Seats with a waterfall which is often favored for other types of seating. While the combination in this particular car may have some things to be desired, I can see where individual parts could easily appear in the Nissan line of cars in the very near future.

The thing to remember is that it is a concept car. Some concept cars are simply a display of various parts for evaluation versus display of a car for evaluation. This is how I take this one.

In the past for example you had Bess the Mule. In the auto industry a mule was often used as the name of a car used to mount various concept parts to. Studebaker had an Avanti with 2 doors on one side and 1 on the other so you could see what a 2 or 4 door version could look like on the same vehicle which saved a fortune in cost. The Andrea Doria has a couple of 'mules' on board. Bess has some ties to our current cars in that it featured a 'radar' cruise control.

The rear to me actually looks more like one of our 'favorite' Korean cars than an Avalon.

Nissan pops out concept cars all the time and you can never be sure which one makes it or not. The assumption is that there are at least one or two true styling tests happening with each concept that will actually make it to production.

The Intima seems more like a lifestyle line than the car. This is also something commonly noted with the Essence and the accompanying luggage set. Personally I think the life style models will most likely not make their way to this continant, at least not for another decade or so. Until the Japanese work it into their lives. I really like the interior appointments in some regards the seats look very comfortable and the suicide doors would be interesting. Although the size and swing of those doors would not be practical in any market. The concepts are pretty interesting and they have the technology capabilities to make it work.

I was looking through the tabbed windows in my browser and realized that the above link is a Nico link. Good work Matt.

The interior shots of this 05 concept has a little bit of GT-R coupled with some Essence. I have a feeling the interior and some of the exterior attributes will migrate into upcoming models. Personally I would really like to see some things like the gauges make there was into some of the new models.

Now something like this is in the works, or at least was for a while until Chrysler decided to tank.
