I sold a cherry, '72 Camaro RS with a 406ci. SBC and bought my 240 and a car for my mom. The Nissan was definitely my first choice after much thought.

I wanted to set up the 406 with a Motec, drop in a 6spd, Baer Claws all the way around with a full Hotchkis suspension and some 18's, but I'm not that rich. :-)

I had the offer for a Free 95 Chevy Lumina, but turned it down for a $350 1983 Nissan Sentra. I miss that car now!

In 1994 I got an Altima and it was exactly what I wanted. First choice. I could not afford a Maxima at the time which is what I really wanted, but the Altima did (and still does do) just fine!

unfortunately it wasn't. before i purchased the infiniti i was in the market for a Galant. I thought they were stylish at the time and i had no real interest in performance and was mostly unskilled and uneducated in vehicular ways....glad i know better now.

It sure wasn't mine.I wanted a 95 Civic h/b, and I had my money and everything ready. The seller just never showed up when we agreed. Too bad, because although I love my 240, it was a really clean civic. Could have done lots with it...

Quote »Was Nissan/Infiniti your first choice in a car?[/quote] Are you asking, was a Nissan/Infiniti vehicle your choice for your first car?

Or are you asking, was a Nissan/Infiniti your preferred brand/model when you purchased your current Nissan(s)/Infiniti(s)?

Once I know I can vote. Datsuns were only barely on the West coast when I had my first car, a 1964½ Mustang.

I was slobbering over a 2000 Maxima SE when I found my Q. $7K less and MORE POWER (plus lots of goodies) and the same warranty. Easy choice.

Also was considering a 95 Legend but the Type II engine and 6-speed was too rare (and most were either high-mileage or too pricey).

I took it as your first choice out of all of the marques out there. I don't think many get a choice in their first car and if they do, they're lucky. I'd say you were pretty lucky! My dad has a 64 1/2 convt for sale right now. It's an April '64 production.

That's squared away Ben. It's very cool that you bought such a nice car yourself and it was not just handed to you. It definitely makes you appreciate it more.

Are you going to beat that 16.6 in March?

The Infiniti is my 6th car, the Jetta being my 5th. I've had three other VWs and a British car (Triumph TR7), and I really don't know why all of a sudden I decided to add an Infiniti SUV to my collection. I used to live across from a girl who had one and liked how they looked but never liked SUVs...that was also when I lived in Oregon but now after moving out here this year what with all the snow I'm glad I have it. Just got the bug to buy it one day last Sept, figured I could use a second vehicle with more utility/carrying capacity than a 2-door Jetta with a rollbar :D

When I got my Altima I had 3 or 4 cars that I waas looking at 1)2002 Maxima. 2)2002 Altima.3)2002 Jetta.4)2002 Jeep Liberty(my wife liked them). After driving the Altima and Maxima I knew that it was down to those two,I liked the Vr6 but with just 200hp and not as much room I couldnt buy the VW.It was a hard choice between the MaX and Altima. I went with the Altima because I liked the dual mufflers and clear taillights. Then when it waas time to get the Spec V I knew what I wanted.I did look at the RSX and WRX.The RSX is only 2 door and way over priced and the WRX was a bit out of my budget after I loaded it up the way I wanted it. The Spec V came with lots of goodies stock.:D

It wasn't my choice to be honest...

But after falling in love with my 240 at first sight and not having ANY major problems in 3 years, i'm very impressed with nissans and i'm sure i'll keep buying them for many years.

I'm on my 3rd Nissan product. I bought my first car (a 1977 Celica GT Liftback) because it was a poor mans Z Car (brand new the Celica was $5,000 and a 280Z was like $7,000). Then in 1984 was just about to buy a 1983 Supra (which I liked better than the 280ZX) when I saw the new 300ZX. One drive and I was hooked. She is still in the garage today, it was followed by a 1985 Maxima (still have it with 280k on original engine) and finally a 1997 Q45t. It wasn't my first choice but for price/performance/luxury I couldn't beat the deal and I have not looked back. Now I've got my Dad's 1992 Q45 for my wife and it is a very fun car too! Now I'm a 4 Nissan family.
