"Several new European and Japanese cars and trucks will likely retain the most value over the next five years, according to a report being released today by Kelley Blue Book, an auto research and pricing service.

The vehicles on the overall list, all 2005 models, are the BMW 5-Series, Mini Cooper, Acura TL, Infiniti G35 coupe, Mazda RX-8, Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 cabriolet and Nissan 350 Z cars, and Volvo XC90, Lexus GX 470 and Porsche Cayenne sport-utility vehicles.

As a brand, BMW vehicles will likely retain the most value over the next five years, the report says. The average new vehicle is worth about 30 percent of its purchase price in five years, according to Kelley Blue Book. But these vehicles are expected to hold about 50 percent of their purchase price during that time."

In constant dollars not corrected for inflation. Because new cars have been increasing at 2-3% in dollar terms per year.

Porsche Cayenne value drops faster than a rock through air.

Kind of destroys their credibility.
