Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum, and really excited to read more about this car.
I purchased my 2014 QX6o in November of 2014 and was THRILLED. I loved this car at first...
With in a week of ownership, I had to replace the transmission (MD state inspection caught it, and said to check it out). When I made right hand turns, it would shutter and make crazy noises. Thank goodness it was under warranty. The trans was fixed at our local infiniti dealer. I still found that the car did not run as smooth and strong as it should, but being new to the brand, I chalked it up to getting used to a bigger car.
Next, the AC stopped working (or never worked). Again, no big deal, just stinks to have it fixed.
Then, the cluster of buttons on the steering wheel only worked on occasion, I mentioned this to my dealer, and they said it was fine. They weren't, but it was hard to show something that only malfunctions every so often. My auto starter did the same thing, but they also said it was fine...
My final straw was when the car grew a brain of it's own and locked my purse, intelligent key, and CHILD inside while I was getting it. I loaded my son into his car seat, and put my purse behind the seat with my phone, keys, and everything else inside. As I closed his door, and went to open my door, I quickly learned that it locked up!
I didn't freak out at first. I simply called infiniti connect (using another person's phone) and the rep I spoke with said, "Ma'am, I have no idea what you are talking about, I can not remotely unlock your car..." So, in getting no where, I called 911. In the mean time, I called my local dealer, where they told me they don't really know how to work infiniti connect/personal assistant, and gave me the same number that I found online who told me they don't know what it is. Needless to say, I lost my mind.
40 minutes later, 911 had to use a jimmy to open my 2014 car (they even asked if I could remotely unlock it...it was great).
Since this incident, I have contacted Infiniti corporate. We are in the process of completing a buy back with Infiniti. It has been decided that my car is not safe to drive. My dealer gave me a loaner for a few days, fixed the AC and the buttons on the steering, but couldn't figure out why my car locked on it's own. Their resolution was for me to make sure my key is in my pocket...really! I am currently driving my car, not safe, and worried if Infiniti doesn't approve my by back.
My question to the forum is: has anyone ever worked with Infiniti's buy back program? How long did it take? was is hard to do?

Thanks so much for any feedback!

Welcome to NICO! Bummer to hear about your experience with such an expensive vehicle.
Your car must've been built on the day after New Years or something. Are the transmission and a/c still acting up? If they don't buy it back as it stands now, you could probably lemon law it.

Try to get it to lock up again if you haven't already. That seems weird, and who knows, maybe something hit the remote just right in your purse.

Nissan/Infiniti customer service is known to be somewhat unreliable. My advice would be to check in with the person handling your case 2-3x a week just to stay fresh in their minds & to document everything. If you don't get anywhere in a month, its probably time to escalate the situation and get a hold of some other folks.

I very VERY rarely hear of buybacks going well, regardless of the company. If and when they do finally buy it back, it's usually after a long time and a lot of headaches.

Sorry to hear about all your troubles.

Ray, even if something in her purse hit it, you're not supposed to be able to lock the intellikey in the car at all.

Yea, it has been terrible. I actually wouldn't mind having a different QX60 and staying in the brand and just chalking this up to a lemon. Lemon laws are tricky so I am really hoping that Infiniti does the right thing here. Otherwise, I will just have to keep pushing until I am in a safe car. I love the storage, room, and car seat capability, plus, it really is a nice car. I just got the bad one out of a bunch (I hope). I haven't heard of anyone else who has had all of the issues that I have had. It's bad because all of my issues are across many different systems in the car. I have been avoiding driving my car because I just don't trust what it will do next. Stinks having a luxury vehicle sitting in my driveway and I can't use it. ...makes me miss my Ford!

I'm just saying, there's a reason I drive an F150 and I work at the Smyrna Nissan plant. The Titan just isn't the bang-for-your-buck that the F150 is, even after the discounts.

Our Murano locks by itself all the damn time. We've just gotten used to it.

Yeah the intelli-key should never allow the car to be locked with it inside... Even my 1994 Q45 (theoretically) would not allow you to lock the car with the key in the ignition.. Really sorry to hear about your experience there. I've also not been impressed with Nissan/Infiniti dealers and/or customer service with my very limited exposure. Last year I went into a dealer spelling out exactly what car I wanted to buy (brand new), and it was almost like they didn't even know they were selling Infiniti's..

Really sorry to hear about your issues Stephanie. You're right that showing an intermittent issue to the dealer is difficult that can't be easily replicated... :(
