Greetings. This is my first post. I just became the proud owner of an M45 Sport last night. I thought I would provide a counterpoint to this post thread, as I purchased a car last night at the Adesa Auction - Nissan/Infiniti surplus event.
I have been in the market for a CPO M45 Sport for the past 45 days after driving one at Infiniti of Scottsdale last month. My salesperson had been keeping an eye out for an incoming M45 Sport, but none had shown up at the dealer auctions. Since a CPO car was important to me, I have been searching inventory nationally trying to find a nice low mileage CPO M45 Sport. My salesperson called me this week to tell me about the event and then followed up with a call to tell me how many M45s would be on hand along with the color, year, and mileage. As I drive 18-20k miles per year. I wanted something with no more than about 25K miles on the odometer in order to have the 4 years (with the Elite warranty extension) and 75K miles left on my certified warranty.
With only (6) M45s in all (there were 50+ M35s) to choose from (and only 3 with less than 30k miles), I knew I needed to get there early. Unfortunately I couldn't get there due to work until about 45 minutes after the doors opened. I went right to the cars on my list only to find (1) of the (3) low mileage cars was missing. Literally, there was a spot for the car in the stock # sequence and the computer showed it had not been sold. It simply vanished.
Of the (2) remaining low mileage M45s, both were 2006 model years with Journey Package, Technology Package, and Navigation Package. Arguably the best example was the 2006 Diamond Graphite Metallic M45 Sport with chromed 19" wheels. Within 3 minutes of arriving I wanted to start negotiations on this car. Unfortunately, another dealer who was present had it on a 30 minute hold for another customer. I was the next in the lineup and there were (4) others behind me. The first guy bought it. It was a nice example. Please bear in mind that these were lease returns that had NOTHING other than a possible run through a quick car wash done to them after being returned.
The other low mileage M45 was a 2006 Twilight Blue Pearl M45 Sport with Journey Package, Technology Package, Navigation Package, and Aerodynamic Body Kit with 18" wheels (not a typo). Since packages were roughly scratched on the window with a wax crayon (with some notable errors) I was starting each car to verify the "RAS" light on the dash to confirm the existence of the Sport package (learned that here this week - thank you everyone). This car would not start. Someone left something on and the battery was dead. We had to get a jump box to charge the battery enough to start it. Once I did we confirmed the Sport package. It just didn't look like it had it with the existence of the 18" wheels. For me this was a deal breaker.
I'll admit to being frustrated that I missed the opportunity on the first car above, but working with the general manager we came to what I felt was a very sweet deal. He slashed the price on the window, he agreed to certify the car with a CPO warranty, gave me a coupon to use towards any re-conditioning of the car at the dealership, swap out the 18" with NEW 19" chromed sport wheels with NEW tires, and slashed the price of the Elite Extended warranty. I was very happy with their efforts to make a sale. All I had to do was get to someone with the authority to make a deal come together. For any of you who saw this car you will remember some small cosmetic imperfections here and there that can be buffed out, but it didn't look any different than the average 2006 auto that had been reasonably cared for. I've bought plenty of used vehicles and know what can and can't be brought back to "like new" condition. The interior was in excellent condition. A little vacuuming, leather cleaner, and window cleaner and it will be like new. After jumping the car the engine purred beautifully - even better than the first car.
So now it has 4 years 1 month of warranty (they cut the price of the Elite warranty in half with no sales tax) and 73,000 miles which is what I needed for the next 4 years. With a little work it will look like new again. I now have an M45 Sport that I really wanted and feel that I received a great deal. In fact, my wife overhead some chatter amongst the dealers who didn't know she was my wife where they were talking about my specific deal and that it was like they "gave" the car away. Even the finance person was surprised by the final deal. Right now my car is at the dealer receiving the full certification (including a new battery). I just wish I could have driven my new car home last night (my only regret).
+1 M45 owner on this board and on the road in Phoenix, Arizona
