I found a new cheap easy fic for ticking Nissan lifters like on the KA24E engine. Place rocker assembly or rockers/ lifters in a pan and place in the oven on high. Watch until they squirt oil out the inside oil passage and until it stops. Will smoke and stop smoking when its all out. Takes a few minutes. Then remove and let cool. Soak in 5 wt synthetic engine oil submerged for 30 min. Reinstall being careful of placement. Been working great for me! Thanks!

Yes the sludge will heat up and come out the oil passages. U can use a torch also but dont get so hot it ruins the spring. A propane torch like u solder with works well. Just keep it hot until no more oil comes out. Takes a couple minutes on each one. I was worried about the springs at first until i tried one. Once it worked well on the truck i posted the fix. Thanks for the welcome. I have a shop and mostly restore classic cars but my son is into Nissans so we have some experience with them.

I have never worked on a Nissan motors internals so maybe it's obvious to some but why not simply use a parts washer or soak in distillates....time and effort?

Just curious.

Welcome to NICO and thanks for the intel, BTW.

Well the Nissan KA24E lifters are built into the rockers and u cant clean them interionally really. Have tried soaking them in thinner and carb cleaner but only helped a short time and new ones are really expensive so its worth a try. They frequently tick often once they get some miles on them. Most engines as u know u can easily replace lifters at a reasonable cost. U can convert it to adjustable rockers but they are noisey than hydraulic and require adjustment.

yeaaaah...or you could do what they did on an Isuzu service bulletin and run ATF in place of oil for a few then give it a fresh change.

I don't feel like putting my head in an oven.
