whats up guys, here is my problem. i have a 1992 honda accord and a 1997 nissan 240sx. i want to put my nissan headunit into my honda because my honda dosent have a CD player and the headunit i have does, and i do not feel like going through the winter listening to the crappy radio. i wanna know if its possible to just cut of my honda harness and solider them to my nissan harness. But the only problem is it seems like the nissan harness has a couple more wires than the honda harness. could this be becasue my Nissan headunit has a CD player and my honda didnt? I called best buy and asked and the guy said he dosent think it can be done. does anyone here know if you can, and how to do it. Also i know this matters, the Nissan headunit isnt a Bose its just plain Nissan made my clarion.

Well you probably can do it but you'll definately need a multimeter if you don't have one personally i'd say don't bother trying. but oh well here's the color codes i found and you can take it from there.....240Constant 12V+ Pink Switched 12V+ Blue Ground Gray Illumination Red/Blue Dimmer Red/Yellow Antenna Trigger Green/White Antenna Left Rear Front Speakers 6 1/2" DoorsLeft Front (+) Pink Left Front (-) Blue Right Front (+) White Right Front (-) Black Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear DeckLeft Rear (+) Light Green Left Rear (-) Purple Right Rear (+) Blue Right Rear (-) Pink

Well, to counter, I'd say it should be gravy. Get a car-to-radio harness adapter for the radio, and a radio-to-car harness for the Honda. Don't cut anything. Solder (or, go ahead and crimp) the two adapters together and plug the radio end to the radio and the car end to the ....wait for it.... car. You may need an antenna adapter for the antenna. The "extra" wires are probably for an electric antenna or (if equipped) a remote power trigger for an amp or the like. I'm taking for granted that you already know the chassis mounts will probably match up from the one car to the next.Hit eBay for the adapters, probably about $6 each.

well guys, I did it, and it works. i now have a Nissan stereo in my Honda accord. thanks for the help. what i did was cut if the mating end from the Honda and just crimped them together with the matching wires from the nissan. it was pretty much easy except that i had to figure out which speaker was which becasue the colour codes were different. Other than that it was just common sence with the colour codes for both cars. (I decided to crimp instead of buying the two differnet adapters becasue I am to cheap to go out and spend $10 on it when I kno i can get it done without spending anything). Thanks for all the help guys, it is greatly appreciated as now i have music to listen to.

PS. Nissan dosent have a ground wire. it just uses a metal object as a ground (stereo, stereo mounts). took me a little to figure that out

Uh-oh.

You might want to start on a new email address now, in case the next owner of that car runs across this. Because he will hunt you down and ....ah.... "rewire" your nervous system.

Still, glad it worked.

Why, i kno its gonna be a little confusing for the next owner, but i dont really see a problem expet for the ground wire grounding itself on the stereo. I still gotta find a better solution for that that. other than that, im happy bc it works, and its my first rewiring project.

If it's meant to ground through the chassis and the mount, and it's working, then don't be concerned about it.
