I know this is a 240sx forum but i figured i'd get better results if I asked my question here. Has anybody heard of someone putting an AWD sr20det from a Pulsar GTiR into a nissan hardbody AWD?

Not sure how well that would work since the pulsar's SR is transverse. Most people in the SR forum agree that mounting a transverse motor into a RWD platform would be an expensive and annoying task. You would need to swap a few things as well such as the intake manifold since the pulsar's points the wrong direction.

Also the AWD transmission and transfer case would pose a fitment issue due to the compact size of it. It would probbaly be better to figure out a way to take the hardbody's transmission and use an adapter plate to mount it to an SR.

I don't see it happening with the transverse setup in a D21, and I'm not one to shoot down one-off ideas; but this one is exceptional.

You already can put an sr20 into a 4wd D21, but the drivetrain is not symmetrical. The front and rear axles are a 50/50 split and it binds terribly around corners. And the gears are so low, my truck has 4.6325:1 ratios, and the stock fs5w71c ratios are also low with a 3.92:1 first gear, it is not far off from a creeper gear, so maybe an OSGiken gear set might be in order if they would even work and if they are even available still. And the 4wd transmission has some problems with breakage sometimes.
