I drove my 96 2wd 5spd during last winter, no problems. This year I upped the ante by getting 4 Firestone Winterforce snow tires mounted. I also have a battery warmer blanket on order which should be here in the next couple weeks. Last year I didn't miss a day or get stuck. Sometimes I was the only one able to move while everyone else spun their tires. I think they handle great. As long as my 96 starts and has heat I am happy.

My 2wd is a bit squirrelly sometimes, but starting off in 2nd kept me moving while everyone else spun their wheels. Congrats on the truck and welcome to NICO.

I just threw some heavy junk in the bed and took my time in the snow.

You will waste more time and money just trying to cover up the problem instead of fixing it. I would recomend just replacing the hoses(both). If the belts are cracked or missing pieces I would replace them as well.
Just my 2 cents

agreed, theyre cheap and easy to install, youll just end up having a mess everytime you drive if you dont replace it

Have them made by a local hydraulic shop. Bring them the old hoses so they can make copies.

At autozone the pressure line is under $70.00 and the return is under $12.00 the return is just bulk hose that you will just use hose clamps for.

If some place is charging $100.00 for a return line they wouldn't be getting my money.

What longtooth and Rev said are truth. My local auto parts store will make custom hydraulic lines for you, and they should be less than 100 easy. The return line isn't under near as much pressure, it should be very cheap.

I think 31's are too tall for a 2wd.

Truck looks in good shape, watch out for rust that will develop on the rear fenders. Wax the heck out of it before winter if you can because one winter of salt made a lot of rust come out on mine.

I live in Wisconsin and we get some pretty big snow falls. I've got stock sized all season good years I had only a couple of old tires in back and I did just fine last winter. This is the second truck I have owned but the first was an automatic so the experience of driving RWD definitely helped. If you have driven RWD before and have some drifting experience you should be fine. Otherwise first decent snow fall go out to a unsnowplowed parking lot and gain some xp.

I agree with StephenG, First gear will undoubtedly spin the tires in some decent snow. Up shifting to 2nd is best bet in a decent snowfall.
