The Mexican made stuff isn't gonna break any easier than the Japanese made versions.

I'm fine with it if stupid people really want to believe that everything from Japan has some supernatural force protecting it, because then I can get all thier Mexican made stuff for cheap and let them waste all thier money on bulls*** (this is figuratively speaking, but there is a grain of truth here).

The quality control personell that Nissan hires control how good people make stuff, not the workers themselves; it doesn't matter where the f*** it's made.

Anyways, ka24 hardbody, didn't you post your turbo in the KA-T forum a while ago? And it is obvious that you have the Mexican block and head, so I don't think you are a nay-sayer to begin with

I thought the DOHC KAs were the only ones made in Mexico...

All the SOHCs were good ol jap crap. AFAIK, it's the same as the 240SX SOHC 'cept for the intake and cam.

No, I meant the DOHC KAs in trucks were made in Mexico. I was pretty sure the SOHC were all made in Japan too...

I need to find what I was looking at.

Yeah, This one post I found is with this "experienced" guy from another site...

Check it out:
some other forum wrote:Honestly....

You are running a KA24E truck motor with a multipoint setup.........1. These are made in Mexico blocks and are a lot weaker than the Japanese KA's .... which are weaker than anything on the planet.2. KA24E and KA24DE are a far cry apart.3. Transmission will go boom.

KA24E's .. esp Hardbody ones are extremely weak and failure prone.. Nissan even released a TSB and upgraded headbolts after tons of KA24E's in trucks and 240's started letting headgaskets loose.

It is not a question weather it will pop or not, it is a question of how soon.

Best thing to do is to buy a DE motor and have a reliable 225-250rwhp with a manual.

the motor is not built for any kind of performance.

1. Shallow angle valves.2. No quench area in the head.3. SINGLE CAM with lift limiting tower design.4. No piston cooling.5. Thin headbolts M8. No room do drill out for M10 or M12.

Just a quick list of things that any real performance motor has and a SOHC doesn't.

Alot of those issues come up when building high HP motors that just go flat out.

But for around 300whp they are pretty comparable.

The HG popping is more or less ignoring of maintainance. You are supposed to retorque the head on every major tune-up when the wires and rotor button get replaced. No too mention people do lots of other things to stress the HG.
