all s-chassis ka's were made in japan, as well as certain years of altimas. all the other ones were made in mexico.Dattebayo wrote:I thought the DOHC KAs were the only ones made in Mexico...
All the SOHCs were good ol jap crap. AFAIK, it's the same as the 240SX SOHC 'cept for the intake and cam.

You are running a KA24E truck motor with a multipoint setup.........1. These are made in Mexico blocks and are a lot weaker than the Japanese KA's .... which are weaker than anything on the planet.2. KA24E and KA24DE are a far cry apart.3. Transmission will go boom.
KA24E's .. esp Hardbody ones are extremely weak and failure prone.. Nissan even released a TSB and upgraded headbolts after tons of KA24E's in trucks and 240's started letting headgaskets loose.
It is not a question weather it will pop or not, it is a question of how soon.
Best thing to do is to buy a DE motor and have a reliable 225-250rwhp with a manual.
the motor is not built for any kind of performance.
1. Shallow angle valves.2. No quench area in the head.3. SINGLE CAM with lift limiting tower design.4. No piston cooling.5. Thin headbolts M8. No room do drill out for M10 or M12.
Just a quick list of things that any real performance motor has and a SOHC doesn't.
