Blows my mind how dumb people are these days.
A comparison would show that for less money one gets a better car (my favorite - Genesis sedan for example) with more luxuries than comparable Nissans (Maxima). I own 2 Nissans cause I like the design, but recognize Hyundai has a bright future due to increased reliability, attractiveness and price - while Nissan does not show as much promise as it did.

I don't know you, but it is unlikely many share your ... ideas.
Blows my mind how limited some people's vision is these days.

IMO Nissan needs to hire James May to do its marketing.

You are saying that the Genesis sedan (which I believe is what's at my mall) offers more value for the same money as, say, a G37 sedan? How so? The Hyundai looked very plain to me, whereas the Nisfiniti offers original style and a pedigree of such cars as the Skyline. I personally see more value in a vehicle that evolved from the Skyline company than one which simply imitates other companies & has nothing of heritage other than the Excel & Tiburon. If you find value in supporting Hyundais' first substantial offering, then I can understand that... there is something to being a part of something new... and it's not like Japanese manufacturers didn't get their start by imitating others themselves.

I'm curious to see how Hyundai's cars hold up over the next 10+ years. Any new car can feel good and be nice driving off the lot, but it's how it holds up that counts. Companies like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan have proven that many of their cars hold up well over time.

Side note, why is Chevy up there? Every newer car (not truck) that I've ridden in from them has been a piece of s***. Trucks seem to be the only thing they can do right nowadays. I think the current Suburban/Escalade by far exceed anything else in their class for the money.

I would definitely put Nissan over Chevrolet.

Yep. The GM warranty sounds good at first, but it's 5/100, not 10/100. Certainly they can afford to make it transferable when it only lasts 5 years.

Concept versions had GM's fantastic "High Feature" V6. Production versions are unrelated have a non-GM 4-cylinder.

But I also like this 4dr coupe/sloping roof/CLS/Volkswagen CC sort of stuff. I know MoD is a "three box" cat.
The "I'm pretending I'm a coupe" shape is part of what I don't like...but I could tolerate that. It's the DETAILS I can't stand.

I place little value on warranties anyway. A good example is when I brought my months old $60,000 car to the dealer for something, and they tried everything they could to refuse working on it. Just look at how many threads on NICO are started about people getting flack from dealers. Theoretically you could offer a 30 year warranty & just deny every claim that comes in. Actually, Chrysler offers (offered?) a lifetime warranty! I wonder if that is what they are doing with claims.

Chrysler is the walking dead. I have no idea who is buying their vehicles, nor do I know why (...nor do I really care).

I agree though, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota haven't really made much worth getting excited about in a few years, with the exception of the 370z... but even then, its a pricey car.
If I'm Nissan (or any other car company), I'm concentrating on those three things, rather than investing billions in R&D and marketing for a car that 1% of the customer base will appreciate and, therefore, purchase. Which is why there are flagship models which are underproduced and overpriced (versus market-bearing price point). (ie Z06, CTS-V, GT-R, M3, A8, etc etc)
Yeah but they get people into dealerships... and don't kid yourself, we as enthusiasts have much more pull than just 1%. How many of your friends and family come to you and ask for car advise or which car they should consider buying? I know just about all mine do.

I did want to mention though, that Nissan builds one hell of an economy car. I was looking at a Versa in a parkinglot the other day and couldn't help but think how much better and tighter the car looks than most other economy cars in its class. If I was in the market for an econobox, I'd be all over the Versa. The cube is too damn funky for me, but holy crap, is it comfy inside.

Wait until you drive a Versa/Cube - you will be sold! It's amazing how they are able to apply each & every horse, where as it seems others have good HP numbers on paper yet feel slow. Also, the handling is amazing for an economy car!!! I tried describing this to my coworker who drives a Honda because it has "the best economy"... he said something to the effect of "yeah I just want to get to work & back." To each his own I guess?

5 years ago I would have laughed at buying a Hyundai, but after seeing their new line up and the better build quality and the best warranty out their it made sense. I came from many 240's and still wanted that same sporty feel just newer. The Genesis coupe fit for me and I'm now a proud owner. Pus the aftermarket is growing quickly for Hyundai, which is a plus for me, because I'm still a tuner at heart. I say good for them.

I know a LOT of people who buy a car, drive it until the warranty runs out and then go trade it in on something new with a warranty. It's usually something very cheap and easy on gas. They always have a car payment, but they never have to pay for any repairs. To some people, it's worth it.

I drove a new Sonata when I was in Omaha. While it was not the ideal track vehicle (even though Greg and Torry tried to convince it to be) :chuckle: the ride was much better than the 2010 Mustang we were stuck with in Carlisle. Would I drive one? Sure. Would I buy one? No.
