Any ideas anyone. Car has just started overheating a bit. Is fine while driving but when stuck in traffic idling seems to heat up quite a bit
Coolant level was fine although first time i noticed it, when checking I found the cap to the coolant reservoir had come off. Pretty sure it was on ok befoehand so maybe it had over pressurised
No warning lights coming up, just the temp gauge showing it

Are your cooling fans cycling when the gauge climbs? Where on the gauge is the needle when you say the car "overheats a bit"?
I'd say your fan module might be knocking on the door to the other world.

If your cap has come off though, you might be looking at blockage such as when the thermostat fails closed. When the car is running and warmed up, check the upper and lower radiator hose to see if both feel hot.

The gauge is getting up to just below the H mark. As soon as the car is moving it drops back rapidly, ie, over a minute or so
Has only done it in heavy traffic when idling and not moving and has only just started doing this

Ok, I'd check the fans when standing still as well as the temperature of the hoses.
