Who is this character you ask? Well, that would be me. I drive the Cadillac everyday and of course I enjoy it. Who wouldn't? It's a great benefit and I'd be nuts not to take advantage. But something is missing. I used to enjoy the hell out of driving my 240's, working on them, detailing them, racing and of course driving them to NICO meets. None of my cars were ever JDM-tyte or in danger of breaking any speed records, but I had fun.

With a demo, there is no sense of ownership. I drive it 6500 miles and get a new one. It's great and yet it's not. I have no wish to detail it, I can't mod it, can't race it, no maintenance to do and who the hell cares if it shows up at a NICO meet?

Does any of this jibber-jabber make any sense to anyone? I post this not to whine, or disparage my lot in life, but the crew here in our little "Others" forum is kinda like a support group. It's definitely not the masses.

Cast your vote on what I should do. All advice will be taken under advisement. Thanks for your help.

Im not sure... Maybe you could get them to let you use a CTSv and I bet your inklings to get a nissan.....

How about Ill give you my Q and you keep giving me those demo cars as long as you have them!! :D

Sorry had to say it, but if you got the money (and the space???) why not find a fixer upper (sans rust or body damage) and make a project...

project = time

I don't have a lot of time on my hands, nor a garage of my own at this point. I think you would start to think like me after a while Wes. Don't you think? Keep in mind you wouldn't be able to do anything to the car either.

it's a bit hard to work on a project with no garage... and no time...

but if you can find space and time I say go for the project of you enjoy it so much... Obviously you enjoy it enough to ask the question...

I say you start making someone with a stellar 240 or some other nissan your best friend, so you have the perks of ownership without the hassles!!

you can drive my Q if you need something to toss around... Granted, its like 2 240s!

There's a running CA18DET/5spd swapped convert in the BST now, I think he's asking $2000, but it needs a new turbo.

Go for the 240. You know you want it. You only live once. Might as well enjoy your spare time with a fun car that is YOURS.

I know of a sharp S13 w/ Silvia front end and strong SR thats done and complete and strong and well sorted.

A no-risk buy.

Its currently for sale by a member of the Nico staff. He offers flexible payments plans.

The paint has been circular buffed and looks MUCH better now then when you saw it last.

Fred..:)

S13's are great fun for the price and with drift being so popular get a lot of respect for an older car. That is why I have two ;)

What about maybe an older 300ZX..

Or have you ruled out maybe getting an older infiniti... Like an older J30 or Q45...

That's the point. I can't do squat with the CTS besides drive it to and from work. Can't race it, mod it, hell I can't even leave my personal shiite in it. If I wreck it, I'm screwed. We carry $1000 deductibles on our corporate insurance policy, which I would have to pay. If I scratch my personal car, no big deal. It can get fixed when I get around to it. Not so the company car. It has to get fixed so it can get sold.

This hasn't been an issue to date, but then I haven't messed one up either.

James, dammit, how can I live the JDM-tyte-mad-dope-hardcore-drifta dream without a 240? :pface

I know, I know. I don't know yet if I can commit that kind of cash to it though. I'm sick of this damned apartment and have recently gained an affinity for golf, so I may need to set the bar a tad lower.

you can probably find a nice Z31 pretty damn cheap. It's not gonna hold golf clubs though. Perhaps a Pathfinder? Or join the Q guys...

Andy..... When I said that at your house, I was referring to an oil light issue, which as it turns out I think the sensor is goofy, and its possible I was using the wrong weight oil, and things of that nature.... Id say my Q engine is better than most, and will easily go to 200-250k...

Im seriously not covering up anything, and I will say that about a month ago that it has some lifter noise, which I believe was due to a tiny piece of varnish getting stuck (as Ive been slightly more aggressive about some engine cleanup than i have in the past) , as its bene gone for a long time... Will do another engine flush here soon...

No its not as clean and nice as Freds Q, but I think its damn good :D

It is a nice Q, Wes. I am still leaning toward a 240 though, due to the fact I like to autocross and do lapping days.

Thats true! I can understand that, but I can tell you that drifting the Q is AWESOME..... Yes it can be done and on non-wet pavement!

I wanna see someone really drift that car, that would be awesome.....
