first of all, one of my taillights doesnt work properly .. I guess due to wiring problems or something it is just really dim, same thing goes for the break light on the same side. While I was behind another 240sx this night, they had the same problem, then I noticed that the raod was kinda dark, then I noticed it was because my headlights where working.....

suddenly both headlights jsut stopped working and I cant find where the fuse is, does someone have a diagram for both the fuse boxes? or can someone tell me where hte fuse is for the head lights? I doubt the bulbs just popped simultaneously, and the only thing I can think of is the fuse. but I cant find the right fuse.

btw its a 89 240sx coupe

Someone please tell me what is wrong with a fuse that reads as a short on a meter? Fuses are a short on a ohm meter. Its made from metal, it breaks when to much current is drawn across the fuseable link- IE 10 amp fuse will brun to a open when more than 10 amps is drawn across the fuse. Maybe I am not following the conversation, and its early in the morning before my first cup of Java. If you are still having problems feel free to email me. I usually check the boards once a week depending on my travel schedule.

actually fuses have about a 125% capacity meaning it can handle up to 12 and a half amps before blowing. what do you mean shows as a short on a meter?? its a wire of course its gonna show as a short.

take all your tail light bulbs out. instal a fuse see if it blows. have your lights turned on of course. then start adding bulbs till it blows. once it blows you will know where your short is. I have a suspicion when you pull the rear cover off the tail light housing your gonna see the problem. one or more of the sockets will be melted off the plastic housing.

ok Im gonna check those.. but I dont think that is it as I have everything working.. first of all the right side light is where my car was hit, and there is frame damage and maybe the frame cut into some wire when it folded and stuff. Second, the reason the light stopped working and blew the fuse is because I turned on the brights which I had never done before that time, and the reson it blew the fuse is because the previous owner had installed fog lights, then took them outand left this wire, that was feeding off both right and left headlight powerlines, just hanging in front of hte radiator with a couple of points exposed where the foglights where spliced in. So when I tried and turn on the brights this must have blew the fuse when the extra power for the brights tried to go throug htaht line. Because of this I cut that line off and then no more blown fuses. But thats not the end of the story, you see the right side power line was barely getting any power (I foudn this out after taking it to a friend of mine who is mechanic and he used a test light on it and stuff) so the fog lights line was actually runnning power to the right light. So I had to cut out all the crap the previous owner did (while doing this I found not one.. but TWO novelty horns (dear god.. why do you give 240sx's to such people!?) which I promptly cut out and stomped to pieces). Problem is I still cant figure out while that power line is getting so little power. So instead of doing all the hard work I just ran another wire from left to right and they work fine. Either way I will be rid of all this crap when I get my sr20 and my new(er) wiring harness. So that problem is fixed for now, how about the rear taillight :\ it still is all dim.
