Maybe it will morph to the QX30? If not, the next QX50 will be a little larger than the EX35 to make room for the QX30.

The BMW X3, Benz GLK35 and other lux cuvs do pretty well because they have been made a bit larger and more practical. Infiniti could easily do that with the QX50. It would be foolish to not have a vehicle in that segment. If they could keep the price down and port the hybrid engine over with a bit more room and good styling they would have a winner. Hopefully it would stay rearwheel drive oriented. XIS, is that a pix of the QX30? I can see some of the Essence design elements.
Absolutely! Infiniti sat and watched as the other brands made their sporty, lux compact crossovers larger, more utilitarian, and family friendly. Now the compact CUV market (lux and non lux) has taken off as people see the benefits of better mileage and lower entry costs in a still recovering economy and increasingly eco conscious society, but Infiniti is still straddling the niche. Give it back the 5 inches in length chopped from the G, but "add lightness" so the weight goes down, or at least doesn't change. Heck if the F150 can lose 700 pounds, why not an EX/QX50. There are so many possible MPG strategies: direct injection, start/stop technology, cylinder deactivation, turbos, as well as the hybrid engine that could be used. Of course more back seat and hatch room, usable roof racks, the ability to tow, would all make it a more compelling vehicle for more people. Much as I love my EX, if Toyota plunks the 200hp Camry hybrid set up in a Rav 4 or Venza and gets an honest 35 mpg combined, I am outa here.
