All I want to do is to connect with other Rogue owners - not discuss nor read political opinions (there are other places for that - and this should not be it).
Nope.

I moved this thread OUT of the Rogue forum for that reason.

While we're glad you're here, there will occasionally be off-topic discussions. If you're not interested, don't open the thread.

(BTW, we've been running for 10 years - Our broad scope of topics is one of our strongest assets.)

That's like get a 70 year sentence at the age of 22 for Home Invasion.

Or, me shooting you and getting 4 years.

But different from, me having pot in my possession and getting 15-30 years.

Or you can just wait to die for 2 years because we have no livers.

Or you can go to japan and get one installed very next day, and leave in 2 days, for 150,000.

Welcum to Amerika.

Where MV can kill some dogs, get prison, and still throw a ball, and be a spokesperson and still make more money then me and you combined.

That would be Donte Stallworth. Killed a 59 year old man, a HUMAN BEING, while driving drunk in his Bentley. Only got 30 days jailtime.

Where is the outcry in that situation? Regardless of anyone's opinion of Vick, you cannot deny that is some BS right there...

AZHitman - I can agree to that. For me, I can't separate the person from the athlete and for that, I see no forgiveness in my future.

I had a read through the Sports Illustrated article. I truly hope that he has changed. I hope that the inspiration that his teammates and fans get is for his ability to change. I didn't know about his struggles with his past once he got out of jail. Everyone claims that prison changed him, but if he has actually changed, it was a series of offences that gave him the motivation to change.
He has heard the speculation: Mike's a free agent at the end of this season; Mike needs to say the right things; Mike's broke. He chuckled. "Mike ain't broke," he said. "But that's what people say, yeah. I don't think me saying the right thing is going to get me a new deal or contract. It's all about my play. It's all how you conduct yourself as you play well. I don't have to put on a front around anybody. Everybody knows my personality."
I found the above quote interesting. What I get from it was that he doesn't care about what he did in the past. His past won't help him with the future. That may be true for the people that have forgiven him and given him a second chance, but for me, I don't care about his future if he isn't remorseful for his actions of the past. He has had countless opportunities to redeem himself, but has chosen not to. Instead, he focuses on doing what he wants to do and believes he doesn't owe anything to the dogs. That's his opinion and I'll respect it.

I don't know any of the dogs that Vick abused, but my friend has a rescued "Pit Bull" that was used as a bait dog. To think of what he went through for someone's selfish "hobby" is very upsetting.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I was in this section of the forum because I own a Rogue. I didn't know about the general chat area.

Reverend D21 - I have to agree with what your saying. Even the bad can have some benefits.

Casperfun - What kind of world would we live in if we didn't stand up for what we believe in? Would the U.S. have just sat back after 9/11 and not gone to war? Would convicted rapists be allowed to live anywhere without their neighbours knowing? I believe that it's important and while I never forced my opinion on anyone, I posted the commercial to inform other Nissan owners. The decision to support the dealership is up to the individual and their feelings about Michael Vick.

I agree that his upbringing had a lot to do with the crimes that he committed. At the same time, he's a grown adult, he knew the law, and there was no excuse. Most kids would give anything to play professional sports. There are a lot of people who had to give up their old lifestyles when they were offered a contract. Vick chose to continue with his lifestyle as he enjoyed it and thought that he had covered up his operation. He painted his kennels black, built walls around his property, buried the dead dogs, and kept his hobby quiet.

No need for apologies - You're welcome to post whatever you like, wherever you like.

That last paragraph is powerful, and I agree. Trust me, even though I'm a fan, and have been since he was at VT, I'm still conflicted about those very issues. One can only hope this brought some attention to the issue and changed things for the better.

It's sad, isn't it? I don't remember many of the crimes that professional athletes have been convicted of, but even Todd Bertuzzi's incident is inexcusable. Why are these players forgiven and given everything that they don't deserve? I'd rather see an athlete with half the skill and twice the brains take home their millions. These are not the people that our society should be celebrating.

It's sad the cash cow that we've created in professional sports. I'm sad to hear the damage that MV caused. That is truly awful, but what is worse is us as americans will always put people like him in the "hero" status. Kids look up to him and people want to be like him because he's better than the average joe at a sport. I am worried for the future generations who care less about studies and learning because their heros catch a football, but live awful lifestyles. And it's obvious that kids are trying to mimic these people. Just look at all the little thugs in the world today.

Reverend D21 wrote:MV did inadvertently help the Pitbull cause by making the dogs the victims for a change. Up until that point PBs were considered enemies of the state by everyone lacking a frontal lobe. Now their hearts have gone out to the Pitbull breed. I get it all the time at Petco, parents asking if their kids can pet my PB. It is usually followed by something like "They are the most misunderstood dogs. I heard about what MV did to them and it's horrible. Watching 'The Dog Whisperer" has shown me how great these dogs can be in the right hands". So in a F'd up way I thank MV for bringing the issue to the limelight. Now the public is a little less stupid when it comes to Pitbulls.

^THIS

This is a pretty frequent argument that I get into. I will start off by saying that both PBs that I have owned have been dogfighting rescues, the first from a shelter, and the second, was found near my house(covered in bite marks, and tied down to train tracks). I also helped out a woman in the Baltimore area that owned a PB rescue while she was rehabilitating many of the "Vick dogs", so I have personally played with and taken care of some of the surviving dogs from that case (and all I will say is that some of those dogs were in HORRIBLE shape). With that said, I have no problem with Vick at all. I do not condone what he has done in his past, but he did pay his debt to society (and a lot more in lost wages and endorsements), and furthermore he can start on my Fantasy Football team any day of the week :chuckle:

As for the Donte Stallworth point, I agree whole-heartedly. In my eyes, the 30 days (I actually think that it was less than that) in jail proved that a Pittbull's life is worth more than a Mexican's in the eyes of the law. :wtf2:

PS: I miss my dog now, Thanks :frown: stupid ex-fiance took her...

Repairs were scheduled, delayed, rescheduled, and then it was too late.

Still, the main reason it failed was design. I'm not saying there's not a maintenance issue in this country.

In 2001 they determined it was vulnerable.
Repairs began in 2006.
Failure happened in 2007.
It took only two years to get healthcare "reform" rammed down our throats.
