Hey everyone!

I am new to this forum but i have a serious issue with my truck that needs to be addressed. My truck drives well in clear weather with a slight feeling of loss of power but this feeling tends to intensive to a point that you will reach so low of RPM's in the correct gear that you can stall out when it is raining. ( it is the worst when it is at cold start and raining/damp ) I have a check engine light on my truck and the code calls for a " Air Charge Temperature Sensor " but what is weird is that my vehicle ( a 1997 ) does not come with that senor but the 96 and 98 do. What this sensor does is it is located in your air cleaner housing or intake manifold and measures the temperature of incoming fresh air to keep a consistent and correct fuel air ratio. and i read online that if it doesn't work it can lead to drivablilty issues.

what can this problem be? is it that sensor, or can it be something else that could be causing the problem?

If anyone had this problem before or had symptoms of this, please give me your advice and i will be more than happy to try it.

Thank you!

New to this forums, but as a back yard mechanic I can tell you that your issues may be more then one. The rain or extreme dampness causing your truck to stall out or run very poorly, might be a cracked or bad distributor. You may want to test your maf sensor for your other problems. A tune up is never a bad idea, new plugs, wires, distributor rotor, air filter, and fuel filter are relatively cheap, and will eliminate many troubleshooting steps.

Even though those things were said to be replaced when i got the vehicle 10 months ago i will do another tune up. I also found out that there is an old recall for the 1996 Nissan d21's my manufacture date for my truck is 3/97. i don't know the cut off date between 96 and 97 but

the recall states that some 96 Nissan trucks are experiencing incidents that involve certain parts of the emission control system which causes the MIL light to come on. The parts to be replaced in the recall are throttle valve switch, auxiliary air control valve, fuel temp sensor, and {AIR TEMP SENSOR} ( witch is what my Check engine light code is calling to replace!) a water separator kit for the evap and emission control system will be installed.

Can anyone connect the dots to this problem and GIVE ME A FIX BASED ON THEM EXPERIENCING THIS SITUATION?

If anyone can give me anything along the line of this it would be much appreciated!

Okay sorry didnt catch that you replaced those 10 months ago. I have found out to diagnose a cracked dis. cap. A spray bottle of water spraying just certain parts will tell you straight away if it is that or not. Sorry I coulndt help.
