Hi there, I was working on my Nissan pickup and ran into a couple problems. The input shaft of the A/T fell out while i had it standing on its bell housing, I tried to side it back in but it won't go all the way. So how do i get it back it??
Also the truck has a cable speed sensor which i have no idea how to put it back together. If someone can tell me how to put it back together that will be great.

Here are some pics of what I am talking about

I can honestly say I have never seen an input shaft just fall out in person. I am going to check some of my FSMs for some info. If it's a 90 then you also have some good luck at http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/hardbody/d21_truck_1990.pdf

I have been looking at the FSM too, but it seems like nothing is holding it in place. If it sided out, I should able to side in back in, but somehow it won't go all the way in. Here is what i found in the FSM.

Have you tried removing the oil pump?

I haven't yet since I never messed with a A/T before and that are actually a few steps before moving the oil pump. It seems like i will need a special tool for the oil pump. I will update the thread once i try. Thanks Rev_D21

So I finally took the bell housing off and it came off with the oil pump. The shaft seems to side back in all the way, but somehow i couldn't follow the steps on the FSM, it just did work for me. Shaft spins freely until I started tighten the bell housing, going to take it to the transmission shop and have them take a look at it.
