Since I really like my salesman and had no particular issues with the dealer, I gave them good marks
So it took a couple weeks to arrive, because I have not received mine.
My salesman pleaded with me to give him an "excellent" rating on all counts because he said it could cause him to lose his job if I rated him otherwise.
My purchase wasn't the best experience (as if car buying ever really is). I had a trade in (which I loathe) but the car was a '01 Camry (part of the oil-sludge-o-death generation of Toyotas - they've been sued over this, if you want to read more...). I didn't feel right selling it outright (as I always do) and felt much better handing it off to a dealer to "deal" with.
Anyway, they offered me $1500 lower than the Camry was appraised (showing me a KBB.com printout of the "value" of the car, which was missing options such as ABS and Keyless Entry - to which I replied with my own appraisal copy) and after my $500 student cash back on the Versa, I told them I wanted $X,XXX "trade difference"...I didn't care where the money came from (budge on the sticker/trade in) but I wanted the difference to end up at my dollar amount. After several hours, I got them to give me $1500 more on the trade than they first offered...with no budge on the sticker (except for that cash back deal).
When I got to financing, lo and behold, guess what showed up? That $1500 I had haggled back magically got into the financing computer. Had I not done loan calculations prior, I wouldn't have instantly known there was anything wrong - but the monthly payments they quoted me were nearly $100 more per month than they should have been. The finance guy came back 15 minutes later saying he "wasn't sure where that came from"...riiight.
Needless to say, I'm still irked that they thought they could take advantage of me just because I'm young...scary to think of all the people they sucker into higher payments.
