Does anyone happen to have information regarding the protocols used by the Consult system used in the Z32? We've found a copy of the basic specification, but supposedly there are extensions to the protocol used by Consult that relate specifically to the 300ZX. If we can find a copy of this, it might make for a fun project to write an iPhone/iPad/Android app for bluetooth based car monitoring and tuning.

First I'd like to commend you on taking this leap of faith to completely "geek out" the Consult. Second, I just don't see the added value. A mobile device with a tiny screen to flip through various dialog boxes of heuristic controls. Wouldn't it be best the car owner/tuner is near the vehicle when running diagnostics? e.g. brain surgeon operating on you via skype? or locally bed side. It will be fascinating if you pull this off. :woot: In short, I'll search around and see if the Consult protocols are out there...stay tuned and good luck!

There's the beauty in that idea, if we can possibly pull any of it off. One of us could be driving, while the other worked on an iPad in the passenger seat to watch and log the car's performance and readings. Short-range radio communication right into the car's cabin is all we need.
