Here is my recent discovery:

When I was at the dealer for the turn signal switch replacement, I came across with this cleaner. It is made in Canada for Nissan. Product number 99998-80008. I am not sure if they export it to USA or if there is a USA equivalent product.

I would never pour anything to the gas tank because:
-the car is 2011 with 26.000 km, so no need to clean the fuel lines, for now
-I don't trust the off the shelf fuel cleaners
However, this product is "Nissan approved", so I don't think it will do a harm to the injectors.

It says "every two tanks, pour a bottle". I talked to the mechanics at the shop and they said I can use it every 48.000 km and they think "every two tanks" is overkill.

I bought two bottles and put aside. When the car reaches 40 - 50 K, I will use it.

i have never known nissan to have a petroleum refinery plant. so the oils and solvents they sell in their bottles are simply re-bottled stuff that could have been made by any of the main companies such as mobile/vp/stp/redline/etc. its all under strict contracts etc.

id be careful with things that go into the gas tank. it could end up loosening dirt that could be sucked up into the fuel pump. it could end up damaging the fuel level sender and you'll get even worse readings than we get now. the proper way to clean injectors is to either disconnect the fuel lines and let the engine run off only on the solvent, or to remove them and send them to an ultra-sonic cleaner.
