okay i have a read a ton of posts about improving fuel economy with the Nissan Armada....I have noticed an increase in fuel economy in my other cars (non-nissans) when it comes to using K&N air filters, and I have read that they work okay in Armadas as well. So what i am wondering is "would you get even better mileage if you were to drop in a K&N Filter AND have an after-market exhaust system installed (i.e. "cat-back" system?), maybe even a performance exhaust system?

Of course - freeing up your exhaust system will greatly help... although you are in CA so you better make sure you can still pass inspections. I think several people make the CARB certified intake for our cars. I know Stillen also makes a good exhaust system for our cars - although I wouldn't recommend going with their long tube headers as it means you lose your cats. In Oklahoma we don't have inspections so it doesn't affect me.

Check out http://www.stillen.com for what they offer that is carb certified.

Exhaust would probably help, the drop in filter may help just a bit, but not a lot, I do have the K&N drop in installed in my Armada.

Thanks Johnny,

yes unfortunately California has a death grip on what you can and cannot do to your vehicle....especially when it comes to modifying your exhaust / intake systems. We DO have to be very careful in what we choose and who installs in order to stay within the emmissions laws out here. (really sucks). Thanks for the tip! now i gotta find what WILL work and remains legal.
