Car and Driver reports that a Nissan executive has confirmed that the once-popular midsize sedan will “soon depart” after nearly 35 years on the market, leaving the more “grown-up” Sentra as the automaker’s sole sedan offering.

The Altima’s demise is being attributed to two factors: softening sales, including a 32 percent plunge in the first half of 2026, and a market shift toward SUVs.

They said it was being retired in '25, too, and then we got '25 FSM's. I'll believe it when I see it.
