1984 Nissan 720 2x4

Need to strengthen my rear axle. Options are not that great with a width of 53".

I may have custom axles made but then I will be worried about my pinion breaking. Something capable of LSD would be preferred. Do not want to cut an axle if I dont have to but unless someone knows one that will fit I am probably going to go that route.

thnx for any help.

What kind of strength do you need. Not sure of the exact measurement, but Jaguar rears are known to be able to fit under a lot of things (with fab, of course).

I dont know much about jaguars, but I am sure finding LSD, 4:11s, 6 lug conversion will be a bit hard if not impossible. Especially if it breaks something.

Anyone?

Needs to hold 400+ torq.

Anyone know if Jeep axles can be cut or are they tapered?

Look for a mid/late 70's Lincoln Versailles rear end, it's a 9" ford and it's probably the narrowest one that went into a production car, not to mention the 9" Ford rear ends are pretty much bullet proof. You might be able to find out the width from a google search, but this car was the same as the Ford Grenada except that Lincoln put all the good stuff in the drivetrain which makes it a good cantidate.

Found the solution.....

I got my hands on a 93 pathfinder rear end with 4.3:1 ratio, LSD, rear discs that use the same E brake cable for $250.00!!!

I have to cut the housing and make it narrower by 2.5" on each side. I cannot shorten the axles since they taper BUT Moser engineering will make new ones to fit for $370.00 a pair.

That means I will now have a 9.2" rear end, LSD, same lug pattern, -and discs for $620.00!!!!!!

I am stoked!!!!!

Launched at 2500rpm. Should have been around 4500rpms. Anyway, it does 8.20's with a good launch and 8lbs boost. Will get into the mid 7's easily with my slicks, LSD, and 18lbs boost.

Currently at about 250whp...looking to get about 400whp.
