Hello,

I want to change my engine ECU. Its number is 38. The car is Left Hand Drive, Twin turbo, manual transmission, 1991 year production date, 1993 first registration. Will Uk version or JDM work if they are twin turbo manuals too? I found one uk spec with 22 number on it. Will it work? I will also put my custom EPROM chip.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Peter

I'm not an expert here, but I will guess that you will need a USDM ecu for your LHD car, as the UK/Canadian/JDM versions are all RHD.
Basically you need to match up all of your operating conditions for the ecu's to "match" with the chassis wiring and sensor array, with the only change possible being using an A/T ECU for M/T car. You can't use M/T for A/T though because of the A/T ecu needs.
Hope this helps, and BTW I have an OEM '93 M/T TT ECU I have been trying to sell...which can be socketed by any competent computer shop easily for use of your chip.

It has been speculated that the factory mapping of JDM ECUs are for higher octane available in Japan (104 RON or MON I don't remember) this is equivalent to about 93 or 94 R+M/2 which is the rating system in the USA. other than that there should be absolutely no differences unless the ECU is for a Cali car which got the secondary O2s before 96 IIRC.
