I have a Nissan 240sx I just bought. It has a the welded differtial and i'm considering changing it out for a regular one.

What would that run me for parts? and how hard would it be? i'm mechanically inclined but no mechanic. If it is really difficult how much would it cost me to get it done in a shop?

buy used open diff for $40-$80.

Drop old differential.

Put in "new" differential.

If you have basic mechnical skills, have a basic tool set with jack and jack stands, & are comfortable changing your suspension (i.e. shocks, arms, etc), then you can do the differential.

If not, find out how much a local shop will charge.

That's the front, rear should be 36mm.
