When i bought the car my chain was rattling so i replace everything. Then two weeks down the road the chain started to rattle again so i thought it was a faulty tentioner so i replaced it again. It started to rattle again. Now i am stumped if some one could shine some light on my situation itwould be much appreciated.

I say oil pump, if it's a single cam engine I'd go ahead and put a new pump in anyways, it's cheap and can be done in about 10 minutes

Did you leave off the recalled timing chain guides, its 2 different ones that can be left off. I think in the stickies there is an article with some really good pictures.

I think he's got a single cam, and the oil pressure should be about 70psi at 3,000 rpm

Did you at least check the water pump? Mine made a ticking and 4 people including my mechanic said it sounded like a timing chain.

I did put a stethascop on my water pump and did not hear any thing. And it only rattls when the engin is hot and up around 3000 rpm or over. And i will check agen. Is thare a better way of checking the pump.

A VERY little while...watch the temp gauge. I had a belt throw itself on me while I was making idle tune adjustments. I happened to glance at the temp gauge...saved my self...barely.

I know this is obvious, but did you install the tensioner properly, and did it tension the chain after you installed it? The tensioner has a little hook that needs to be removed for it to tension the chain.

Wow, I didn't even think about that. I can't imagine someone not noticing that though. I mean when you turn the motor over aligning everything you'd have slack all over the place...
