i was driving my 240sx a few months ago when it just died on me, but 10 min before it died on me i was doing some drifting, when we got it home (got it towed) we tried to start it up but it wouldn't start it just cranked and then it would like pop i couldn't tell if it was backfire or not but some smoke came out from the exhaust. we thought i had jumped timing so we took off the valve cover and and put it at tdc and everything was aligned correctly so then we took the head off to check if maybe the valves were bent and it doesn't seem like it we did a leak down test and it passed, and before we took the head we did compression test it and all cylinders tested low i don't remember the numbers though i just know it was low. any help on what it could be?

I'd start with the basics and look for fuel, spark, and ignition timing as it sounds like you've already got valve timing squared away.
What do the plugs look like? Are they wet with fuel after cranking?
