nissan 240sx 1990 mass air flow adapter, vacum and sensor questionss

i was going to put a cold air intake on my car and i got a mass airflow adapter and put it on there, and there is a vacume tube and a lil sensor on the box that i i dont know what they do, but i unhooked them and it still runs fine i guess. i was just wondering what they are

that tube feeds your idle air valve, yea you can leave it disconnected but the reason why its connected to your box lid was for the filtered, outside filtered air, it would be a good move to put one of those small cone filters you can pick up at the autoparts store on there to keep as little dust, water and whatever form getting in there.

aight thanks ill do that, but what about the sensor thing, what did it do. it hooked up and the wires went into the same harness as the mass airflow sensors wires ran into so i didnt know if they had anything in commmon

its the intake air temp sensor (IAT)

you can move the ait sensor out side your engine bay to cooler air,

haha, if i trick the car then what will it do? will it run better?
