Nissan 2009 Sales Update

Even though the economy was brutal in 2009, Nissan did ok and the Rogue in particular did very well, as described in Nissan's press releases outlining the 2009 sales year.

"For calendar year 2009, Rogue set a record of 77,222 sales, a 7.2 percent increase over 2008, and sales of Maxima and Z saw increases of 13.3 percent and 26.9 percent, respectively, compared with calendar year 2008 sales"

This is significant, because "For calendar year 2009, combined Nissan and Infiniti sales totaled 770,103 vehicles, compared with 951,350 vehicles sold in 2008, a 19.1 percent decline"

Even though sales declined overall, the Rogue sales actually increased significantly, which confirms that this is a very popular vehicle.

In Canada, Nissan sales results are spectacular given the economic conditions and our much smaller market:

- Nissan Canada posted net sales of 79,018 units for 2009. This is down 5.3% from 2008 and the second best year for sales on record (2008 was the highest).

- The Rogue continues it popularity with 11,056 units sold in 2009, down 16% from 2008. The Rogue makes up over 55% of Nissan's total truck/SUV sales.

- In Canada, the most popular Nissan's in order:

1) Versa2) Altima3) Sentra4) Rogue

I'm sure they numbers will skyrocket in 2010 because of the Toyota fiasco.
