Hi All,

New to this forum but have browsed before for information - great source of help for all levels of expertise.

I am looking at changing the front door speakers in my 1994 100NX (EU) and have got as far as "almost" removing the door panelling.

:> I have removed, the four screws at the bottom, the two plastic push clips (nearest to the door hinge), the door handle reservoir screw and the "open/lock" surround. This releases the majority of the door, however it feel as though I have missed something in the center of the door around the "automatic window switches" ?? Can anyone enlighten me as to where they think I may have missed?

:> ALSO... I believe the speaker size in the front door is 4" x 6" - if someone could confirm this for me that would be fantastic.

:> Furthermore, if anyone knows what connection the speakers are so that I can purchase any further "adapters" I may require - I would be most grateful.

Regards,

Adam

There's usually a large screw that secures the door panel to the metal near the door handle (the part you grab to close the door from inside)... Also, pop the window switch panel out, there's probably a screw behind there.

NX2000 (US) door speakers are 4x6. You can use shallow-depth 6.5" speakers if you use a spacer ring.

Thanks for your help mate. I'll keep looking for that pesky screw - I did think that there may be something near the window switches, but was half worried about snapping the plastic with sheer pressure - I'll just go for broke!

If anyone knows what connectors are used on the speakers as well, that would be awesome?? Are they co-axial?

Not coaxial cable. If they're factory, they may be a proprietary Nissan-style connector... No matter, though. You'll want to snip them and replace with standard speaker terminal (female spade) connectors, which will connect nicely to your aftermarket speakers.

Speakers I am looking at getting hold of tomorrow are here: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165707

They are 4x6 - and as you say, take the female spade connectors.

All correct - Good luck with the install!

I hope you'll post up some pics of the car in a separate thread - The NX2000 was a very underrated (and cool) car, we don't see many of them anymore!

I certainly will mate - as far as I am aware, however, it is the European version of the NX1600 I have - it's the 1.6l version - however it is one of the later injection models, not the carburettor version.

I've only had the car a couple of month and have to say it's one of the nicer to drive cars that I've had - even if it isn't the quickest, it still knows how to pull if driven right.

The car is 15 years old but has only done 90'000 mile and has had a load of new bits and bobs under the bonnet to make sure she drives well. The engine is like new really. Still plenty of little things I want to add. Body-wise, there isn't a spot of rust on her - really well looked after and I was very happy with her when I picked her up.

Cheers - glad you like her.

I'm going to get her washed and hope the weather holds for a few photos tomorrow so will try and get some more online as soon as possible.

Glad you both like her - :bigthumb:
