so I managed to tank my Z32 and my SE-R within about a couple weeks of each other and am pretty much convinced I need a Z33, after al it's the only generation of Z I have yet to own, I don't need crazy fast, thats what the S30 is for, I was thinking 03 track model and maybe even turbo it, but I thinkk I need something I can simply drive and enjoy, the Nismo is a lot more money, but they seem to be hard for the dealers to get rid off, many of them are sellingthem for 4k under sticker! and in some cases less! I really need to liquidate some projects forst, and the Z31 goes away after the GRM $2008 Challenge, then the S30 can have my undivided attention and that leaves me with no street car other than my truck which is no fun to drive, and as far as I knwo the Nismo Z is still elgal for BS in SCCA autocross, and noone has run one at a divisional or national level yet, which has me thinking it could be a contender against those danged RX8's, any thoughts?

a part of me says, new car, with warranty, it will not get very many miles, and while ti will depreciate rapidly low miles and garage kept limited run Nismo might not loose all it's value too fast, the 03 track I figure has taken the hardest part of it's depreciation and while it will continue to go down percentage wise it's not going to be as bad, and I can pay cash for the 03, the nismo i will likely end up with a payment I hate payments! oh and I hate the funky bodywork on the Nismo, I mean I guess I've kinda adjusted to it, it's not as repulsive as it once was, but I just feel like it calls too much attention to itself, and you can't go through any aoutomated car wash with it! the car comes with a warning sticker to that effectI do love the fatty wheels, adn the Brembo brakes on paper are only marginally better but once you've driven with them the others suck so i gotta have at least a track model

Where are they selling for $4k off? All the dealers in Denver will not budge off sticker on the Nismo.

im still trying to buy a used z, and trust me, they do not depreciate too quickly. My gaol is 15, but they are easily selling for 20-23. Ive seen 04's selling for 24 thats ridiculous. However, convertible do depreciate a lot faster. If i was willing to get a convertible, i could easily buy one tonight for under 15. GET THE NISMO!

Buy the 03, you can pay cash for. with what your going to do to the car, the Nismo would be a waste of money..... A stock Nismo is nice, but why buy one if your going to mod the crap out of it, and even turbo it.

Pay cash = no payment FTW

mezz makes the most sense. I agree with the explanation. Just do it. You will love modding that 03 Z. I cant wait to see it after the mods if that is what you get.

I saw one in person. It was sex on wheels.

If the owner was a hot chick, I'd have sex with her to get a ride.

if I got the nismo I'd keep it stock...mostly, definitely needs a fatter front sway bar and some R compound tires, if I got the track it would get the same and most lilely a turbo andat some point a built bottom end and a bigger turbo boost is addictive

I would rather keep it off boost till the warranty expires. Boost on street is for 2.0L inline 4 engines. VQ35HR doesn't need it on the street.

I thought about that but they won't be out for another year and even then they will likely not be willing to sell for under sticker for the first few months at least, one wierd item is the torque, the 03 had 274 ftlbs, the nismo only has 268, and while this might seem like small potatoes the 03 feels more powerful, the higher redline is nice and it is in fact a faster car, they took nearly half a second off the ET from the 03 model, it doesn't feel as powerful, the 03 I drive was a n entheusiast model so the suspension and brakes are way off from the track model so I can't compare ti to the nismo

everyone says the 03-04's feel so much faster because of the torque ratings..... the 05-06 was only 260!

stocker is 38, most dealers have them now tagged at 34, I'd hope to do a bit better if thats the way I go, still a lot of monies, and sorry the sunset lemans is not my bag, I like the black, white, brickyard and maybe red, the local dealer with the nismo is red, which looks ok but is just a speeding ticket waiting to happen

hey man, no big. to each his own. ive had quite a few black cars & really liked'em, but i was ready for something different. ive never seen the brickyard in person, but dont think id care much for it myself, but you cant go wrong with any of the rest as far as im concerned. good luck w/ the pick'in! (my vote would be stocker with mods)

-and on a Z, im sure cops are color blind, f'ers just live messin with sports cars

I spoke with my friend over at Nissan here in Louisiana and he said that if they are giving you 4 grand off the sticker buy it because here they are not taking anything off and they claim that being they are collectables they are suprised anyone is giving that much off. Now he told me all the other models they are wheellin and dealin with. I dont suggest the nismo I still like the idea of you getting a little earlier model that is nearly out of warranty and modding it to the hilt. Good luck either way.

I thought the same thing back last Thanksgiving. Started to price some used cars and found the Nismo. Since it wasn't going to be a everday driven car the parts and addons were already installed, I went with the Nismo. I got mine 1K below with 1.5K worth of extras. I'll say this though because I couldn't wait for the new Z to come out. If you don't want to spend the money on the car then don't. If you don't want to work on a car but just drive it then buy the Nismo. You could pickup a used one and do the mods yourself like your talking about and sell it in a couple of years. Then buy the new Z. This way you wouldn't have the payment for now and you'd have another toy to play with.Even though I bought a new car I've already change out the seats. Had to get leather the stockers are not meant to be driven out of town.

I flew to Chicago to get mine after the dealer didn't want to match the price without the extrasThe flight only cost me 371 for a direct flight. The flight and gas to go back is still cheaper than the car were your at then it could be worth it. Besides it was nice to see the face on the guy that didn't want to cut the price for me where I live.

what "extra's" did you get? I figure it's already got better brakes and suspension, got exhaust, and the cone air filters wouldn't be stock legal, so the make a car cover to fi the nismo wing? and I hope you saved the stock seats? not a huge leather fan myself, and I'd rather save the weight, I do love the black, I swore them off years ago but they do look good

The dealer had a clear bra installed on the car already and the Nismo Cold Air Intake. The intakes are R-Tune parts and are not supposed to be street legal, I'm not sure if the other brands out have the same disclaimer. At the time the extras equaled about 1.5K which made it worth it to me.Yes I saved the stock seats the big reason for the change was to have a more comfortable ride on trips. The stock seats are what a buddy called 15 minute seats, after 15 your but goes num. I plan on using the stock driver seat when I can run on a track. My foot is still healing from wrecking my brothers 280zx(sharjt) in April.

I'm thinking I'll be autocrossing it in B stock so the cold air intakes won't be legal, I can certainly see the value of the the clear bra

and yeah i saw his car was wrecked, so it's your fault, you should give him your car to make up for it

Don't do it Dave.... if you have the cash for the older one, get it! Don't be fooled by the flashy looks and better components, over time you will upgrade it anyway. When the 370's come out you can finance one of them....

...... you'll regret it!

Which car the 85-Rx7,90-300zxTT,or the one I'm making payments on.You do know that he got the car for free all he had to buy was a ECU. I think that he's going to get something else. We covered the wreck through my insurance since all he had was liabilty. He should of got more but he didn't bother trying to get someone to give him a appraisal.

Yeah the Rx7 goes unden unden kinda like a weedeater even with the holley carb on it.Your right he couldn't afford the upkeep of the 300zx even with the 15K I've sunk into it. I might let him wreck the Nismo and call it even but I'll have to think about it.
