I just called 1-800-NISSAN1 and asked them specific questions regarding warranty on Nismo parts, namely -the cold-air intake.

Here's what I was told:

The R-tune Cold-air intake is NOT covered by warranty.

The S-tune cold-air intake is covered by the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, regardless of where you buy the part from or who installs it, as long as it is NISMO.

I talked to the dealership, and they said that if you're using a KNN air filter, do not apply the oil to the filter.

besides the R-tune parts being designed for "racing", what is the actual difference between the S-tune and R-tune Nismo cold air intakes, if there even is an S-tune intake...I can't find one anywhere, and the Nissan dealership parts department isn't showing an intake listed under S-tune parts?

how many aftermarket air filters have you seen fail? are you really that worried about an air filter failure? if you actually needed a warranty repair is it really taht much trouble to swap the stock filter back on?

BTW I heard the "nismo" line was going to be shut down and the old "Nissan Motorsport" division was gonna be handling any OE performance parts, and if your not familiar with Nissan Motorsports, it's for support of actual racers, with actual race oriented parts, not shift knobs and the like, and none of them is covered with any warranty and will void your vehicle warranty, they are intended for off road competition use only!

sorry for being a "n00b". I just figured i'd share this information with anyone who cares about their investment. I work too hard to dump 30 grand on a car and throw a bunch of crap on it that's not covered by the warranty.
