What does everyone prefer as far as aftermarket parts? Which one and why?

Nismo - mild upgrade, mild hp gains, perfect fitment, does not void warantee, expensive, one year gaurantee

Stillen - custom upgrade, higher hp gains, aftermarket almost cointoss fitment, VOIDS warantee, less expensive than nismo, lifetime gaurantee

I'm new to Nissan so I don't really know too much but...

When I had my '02 Acura RSX, I try to stay OEM especially with Lip Kits. As for MODS, I try to stay with well known Company like AEM, Eibach, GReddy

So my vote goes no Nismo.

Explain "Voids Wararnty"...If you are talking about Intake/Exhaust Etc, it will only void that part or if it can be proved that part (or the installation of that part) caused other damage, please refer to the Mangnusson-Moss FTC Improvement act of 1975 as itprotects consumers from such fradulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's orginial warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warrany or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner's manual under, "what is not covered". Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claim-or offer an explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202.326.3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law. hope that helps

Basically Intakes/ Exhausts (Mufflers and Cat-Back)/ Cosmetics/ Wheels / Brakes /tires / SOME Supension Mods are covered...

Headers, chaging the method of intake i.e. Forced Induction vs N/A...yeah they'll get you on that definitely

There is debate about Cat Converters...best to stay away from those...especially with emissions laws these days

Oh BTW, I voted for NISMO too...but I usually go with BORLA exhaust and K&N Intakes...but that's just me

Since both cost about the same (read as both are way overpriced) I would go with Nismo. Stillen just hasn't impressed me a whole lot with their designs. However, the fitment looks great on everything they make.

actually your wrong, if i put any type after market part other than nismo on my a/c then it can void my warranty, generally it only voids your warranty if that part caused the other problem, but if i tech says its because the intake was to large and caused to much pressure within the engine then your bumper to bumper is now void

HAHAHA and we'd all know that the tech would be full of $hit if he ever said an intake could increase pressure inside your motor.

Yes it depends entirely on the warranty language. I know some say ANY aftermarket parts and some allow the manufacturer's tuning parts, but only with professional installation, etc. If you're worried about keeping your warranty, I wouldn't be upgrading the parts in direct contact with the engine (header, intake manifold, cams, fuel injectors, etc.)

http://sema.org/main/semaorghome.aspx?ID=50096under federal law aftermarket parts do not void your warranty unless it causes a problem. and btw even if the nismo part causes your problem you can kiss your warranty bye bye. what damage can an exhaust do any way. stillen is a very trustable brand and you should choose them

I do want an all nismo coupe but the catback exhaust is $1300 (just called dealer) which seems excessive for a modest and mild upgrade... and I've heard both stillen and nismo cat-backs on youtube and the stillen is very throaty on 2.5s... the nismo sounded almost stock with a slight rasp and higher pitched sound ALMOST ricey... still undecided once again...

I choose whichever company comes out with their product first. It's hard enough to find Altima parts, so the first one out is the one who gets my money because they both put out great products!

And an answer for your warranty issues: Just keep your OEM parts and should anything go wrong, just pop'em back on. Simple as that!

You MUST get in writing with proof to void the warranty, its all in the Magnuson-Moss, check it out, Law is the law...this is not a new issue by any stretch.

That nismo does sound nice, but you did see that he has a sedan, not a coupe, right?
