The car: 95 240sx KA24DE
The problem: I recently bought a Nismo thermostat in hopes to even lower my engine temp. Nissan claims that there stock thermostat opens at 179, while the Nismo version opens at 149.
Ive done some testing with my consult port, and seen that the 179 thermostat leaves the car running at an average of 190. My consult port broke a few days before getting the new thermostat so i dont have any way of seeing the digital readout of what the car is currently running.
When i first installed the thermostat, the temp gauge read about a lil bit higher than a quater of the way up. But after running, the ecu increases the idle thinking that the car has not warmed up yet.
My question is, what can i do to keep the ecu from thinking that the car isnt fully warmed up yet? I have already tried reseting the ecu manuely, but ended up with the same result. I do know that there is a way to do a full relearn on an ecu through the consult, but i am not sure if that will do it.
I know that some people have used the NISMO thermostat in the past, but i didnt see much of an answer for this issue.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
