Just puchased a set of nismo mounts. Of all you guys with them, how do you like them? Much advantage over stock OEM? They were kinda hard to resist at $100 less than what the cheapest place in town wanted for stock ones. Mine are wore slap out. Since Im doing the timing kit install, and found out the oil pan HAS to come off, and motor gets unbolted from the mounts, figured this was a good time to replace. Kinda funny, this is the ONLY mod that my car will have (except for the free sleepy eyes, which really isnt a "mod"). More to come very soon though, taking care of mechanical issues first, only had the car for a couple months.

Nothing much to say besides it being stiffer and car vibrates a bit more.

People have commented that the NISMO bushing make the motor sit a little higher than stock......thus causing clearance issues between the valve cover and a strut tower bar. Seeing as how you don't have any mods of any kind, that probably isn't an issue, but you never know.

I will be getting CUSCO units as soon as August rolls around and student loans come in!!

How much are the nismo mounts? How can I check to see if I need to replace my mounts in my car or not? Is it hard to change?

How much higher? Sure I can have my chassis buddy make me strut bar that will fit right? No way id put one of those single bar design ones in anyway. Gotta be a design that ties the struts to the firewall, or there is really no point. I paid $210 for mine on ebay. If your motor feels like its gonna come rolling out of your engine bay everytime you hit the gas, you need new mounts. Kinda sucks that I just found out I could fill my stock mounts for much much cheaper. Being impulsive sucks sometimes.

Lol, I can agree on the impulsiveness, lol.

I plan on getting NISMO mounts motor and transmission. Looking into a strut bar that connects to the firewall also, let me know if your guy is good at fabbing or if you find one.

since im still bone stock, it'll be a minute before I get a strut bar. He is good, builds drag chassis for a living. Hes already offered to experiment on my car, Im just waiting for a reason to do it first.Figure Ill have him make a strut bar, fender braces, maybe some subframe connectors

mounts are about an inch higher or so people say. Then again most people probably have worn down mounts hence the difference in height.

There have been some clearance issues with motors and the mounts and some strut tower bars. I've got a Cusco OS and have had 0 clearance issues with my old KA on blown mounts or my SR with nismo mounts.

In my experience its only about .25-.5" higher. It all depends on how much of an arch your STB has. I have one STB that rubs the top of the motor with stock mounts and i just got another stb that clears with tons of space on another car with nismo mounts. But it does rub on the hood liner. There just isnt much room between the hood and the valve cover so its tough to find parts that fit perfect.

I have a Trust strut bar, and its pretty high over my KA...I guess I will find out at the end of next week whether it clears my SR....
