So i got my NISMO engine and transmission mounts in wednesday and i as all hyped to put them in, but when i started today, i couldnt get a wrench up into the cross member to remove the bottom bolts. those things are in there GOOD. i mean, im a big guy, and i coudlnt get any leverage and budge them. i also found out my left hand mount is in two pieces, and that kinda freightens me. but i shall do my best to get them out this weekend. maybe i'll give courtesy a call and see if they have the nuts and if they do i'll just cut the old ones off. but yeah, i got the transmission mount in and i noticed a BIG difference driving the car around. it feels much more solid. i really like it. i cant wait for the other mounts to be in. anyways, any suggestions are welcome. later

Lots of the magic elixir, PB Blaster, and a big breaker bar if you can get in there with it. Or, nuke it from orbit.

i was also thinking a small tactical nuke, but its hard to get it right on the dot. the problem is, the bolts are at a wierd angle with the cross member and also blocked by a hump in the cross member. after 13 years of having a 500lb engine on them, i think i might just have to cut them out and get some replacement nuts. man this is going to sound funny "Hi, courtesy parts? this might sound funny, but i need to bye a pair of nuts...."

are you talking about the bottom motor mount nut? all you should need is a long extension and breaker bar to get it off. the top one i did with jsut a breaker bar. the problem that i did have tho was the transmission mount bolt ripped through the rubber it was in and i had to cut that. of course i used a trusty electirc grinder which sent a liquid hot peice of rubber on my cheek and taking my skin right off about the size of a nickel

i used a breaker bar and a long extension, but the thing is at a funny angle and stuff is in the way. im gonna try again. i dont know if i posted this, but the lefthand mount was actually broken in half, the top the the braket mounts too separated from the rest of the mount. im gonna get this stuff done today. i've set my mind to it. AAHHH!!!!! anywho, i'll keep an update.

Just curious, but once you get the bolts loose, are you going to be jacking up or lifting the engine with a hoist?

And seriously, did you try using anything like PB Blaster? My dad was trying to get an O2 sensor out of his old VW for a couple of days. He'd spray it, try the breaker bar and then give up for the day. After a few days of spraying and trying to muscle the thing, it finally broke loose.

Living in PA sucks...road salt sucks.

i've soaked them in PB blaster. i think they're just torqued down from the engine and from the factory. im gonna jack up the front too. its only gotta go up a few inches so i can get the old mounts out, and the new ones in.

You gonna jack it up by the oil pan? Anyway, good luck with the torching/cutting. Let us know how you like the new mounts.

yeah, i lifted it by the pan. well, i got them put in. they were a *****. i eventually had to cut the old bolts, and then they came right out. the old mounts had almost no support. the new ones are much better. i took it for a test drive and it felt so much better not having the header stick up against the steering column. anyways, i still have a funny clunk wheni start the car up, but i think thats the header hitting the steering column. not a huge deal, but i will need to fix that. anyways, im covered in grease and dirt. im gonna shower and chill with my girl.

Hotshot header. im not sure how well the exhuast is lined up now. im gonna look at it today and make sure everything is tightened and lined up right now that the engine sits higher.

Are there any known issues with the NISMO mounts raising the engine and the design of the Hotshot header?

well, we looked again, and it looks like nothing is hitting or rubbing. any height change is the engine being back to stock height. i guess its just the fact the engine is more solid now along with everything else. im just hearing the engine fire up or something. oh well, i'll just live with it. its nothing too bad.

Interesting. I was under the impression that the NISMO mounts made the KA engine sit ~ 1/2" higher. How do you like the Hotshot header, BTW?

the engine does sit higher, but only cause the old stock mounts were falling apart and sagging. its back up to orig. height now. BTW, the header is really nice. i really like it. gives it a deeper growl and flows a lot more gas.

i just used the autozone nuts that fit the bolts. use a wide washer and a single nut and you'll be fine.

blowtorch the nut to make it expand and then take a breaker bar to it with a long 2 foot pipe attached to the end. 4' long bar on the nut'll bust the nut.
