Hey guys,I'm getting damn sick of how much my engine rocks in between shifts/when getting on the gas, and have decided that I should probably go ahead and replace my motor mounts. (Actually, i should have replaced them when I had the engine jacked up with the oil pan off to get a fitting welded on...but that's in the past). Anyway, where's the cheapest place to get Nismo motor mounts for an S14, and does a set of motor mounts include the transmission mounts? Or do you need to buy a transmission mount separately? Does nismo even make a transmission mount?

For anyone who HAS installed them, how much of a ***** are they to get in? All that I have is a pretty good hydraulic floor jack, jack stands, and a factory service manual....I don't need an engine hoist or anything do I? And do you guys suggest replacing both the transmission and the motor mounts? How is it to replace the motor mount?

Has anyone done a write-up on the install?

Just need to know if this is something I can do by myself or not...ThanksMarc

a little under $220.

as for putting them in, they're a PITA. the bolts are hard to get to and i had to cut mine off. it also takes a good while to get the thing lined up and set. be prepared to spend the better part of a day doing it.

you can ask your local Nissan dealer. Nissan Motorsports catalog #'s 11210-RS540 right 11220-RS540 left 11320-RS541 trans. price 69.57,69.57and 39.88 at ABC Nissan 1=800=373=1066. do it when you have the engine jacked up.

Damnit, I figured they'd be a pITA. Did you do both transmission and motor mounts? Is this a one-man job or is it necessary to have 2 ppl? I also heard of clearance issues with STB's and the new mounts...hmm...I saw someone post a while back making a home-made motor mount for an S13, just a hydraulic bar to stabilize the motion...maybe I'll just go that route, although i'm not sure where on the engine to attach it to. Of course they have them available for the damn SR, not the KA though. Figures.

the only reason people have fitment problems, if any, are because the engine sits back at normal height. everyone says different on the inches it goes up, but if you measure everyones after the new mounts the height would be the same. im sure you wouldnt have trouble fitment wise if the bars were made by a competent company who had the common sense to make sure they got the stock engine height.

as for a two person job, im sure you could do it yourself, but i'd tack on a few more hours. my friend helped me and it makes a big difference when you're trying to lower the engine and adjust the mounts at the same time if someone is helping.

i did the transmission mount too. for this one, you must drop the cross member becasue the new mount is the stock height and sits higher.

i did it by myself. according to the catalog you should change all mounts not just engine ones, i used 2 bottle jacks for the engine .and a floor jack for the transmission. i did when i replaced my timing chains and tensioners.

on the same issue, how bad are vibrations transferred to the chassis (or cabin for that matter)?

I bought mine from Performance Nissan: http://www.perfnissan.com/parts.shtml

They beat Courtesy Nissan prices big time:NISMO Engine Mount -(LH) $70.15 NISMO Engine Mount -(RH) $70.15 NISMO Transmission Mount $40.15

Excellent customer service and fast shipping! I also got the NISMO thermostat from them too.

For the install, I simply jacked the transmission housing from underneath. It gave me enough clearance to switch them out.

Previous posts on FreshAlloy on my experience:"Just letting those interested know:

I filled the exterior of the NISMO mounts w/ construction grade poly. The car shaked like a MOFO, way too unbearable.Going straight NISMO, I'm not that hardcore. It was beautful to see a KA-T rev to 6k and not budge!

Chipping the poly away, I found that one of the mounts was filled with liquid. I thought they were supposed to be solid? Nissan Motorsports is contacting Japan on that issue."

Next post:"Chipped the poly out and the car feels close to stock w/ the NISMO mounts. It does rock but it's a good compromise between the rock solid mounts and OEM mounts."

The engine mounts took me a while to line up (had motor out at the time), transmission mounts are cake to do.
