ok so i tried searching found nothing so please no flameing. i have seen on a couple of websites mentioning of swapping the left and right nismo mounts when installing on a ka engine. i cannot find any verification of this on any nissan sites only small mentions of it. so do i need to switch the left one to the right side and the right on the left side?? in the coming months i will be going to an SR of course so i would need to switch back then but now i need new mounts and i cant wait.. i already have them and waiting to install so any information will be helpful. thanks in advancecarl

here's a bump for you b/c i would like to know the same thing. i have an SR and i've heard about switching them around but i honestly don't know for which motor you're supposed to do it. i thought it was the SOHC KA only to get it to sit lower in the engine bay, but i'm probably wrong here.

i really don't think anything bad will happen to your mounts either way. there isn't much that would damage them other than repetitive stress over a long period of time, which is why us S13 owners pretty much all have problems with our stock engine mounts allowing the engine to swing back and forth unnecessarily under cornering.

thts what i thouht too my man. but you know how it is im not trying to get something i jsut paid 80 bucks for get all torn up like, wanna make sure everything is done right. anyways i put in the transmision mount and the difference was night and day. took like 20 minutes to do on the lift. did a little sliding since it was wet and my shifter stays still:), and the enigne doesnt seem to bog as much and just all around better. tomorow the motor mounts will go in so ill give an update.

I know the DOHC has height problems with the Nismo motor mounts, this is probably why. So I guess that is your answer. A lot of people on the KA-t boards have been having this problem and come to find that the engine won't clear the strut bar. This is the kind of info that needs to be more proliferated.

so the SR and the SOHC KA leave it L=L and R=R, but flip for the DOHC? okay, thanks.

That is what I am guessing from my few observations. Just wondering why you wouldn't use the JGS mounts, that is what I am going to use, and they are about a bazillion dollars cheaper. Here they are, along with some wicked sweet turbo gear:http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html

well those are $165 + shipping (for both engine and the transmission mounts) and the NISMO are $180 + shipping (also for all 3 mounts), and the NISMO are proven by many many people to be just right. stiff enough to keep the engine and trans in check, but not stiff enough to make the car vibrate all the time. i'll go with tried and true on this one for $15 more, thanks. good site though.

What site did you see them for only 15 more? Does this include the trans mount.

yes it does. midwaypartsteam.com. not only are they $180 for all 3 mounts, but it's also a NICO sponsor, so you can help out yourself and a sponsor all at once. shipping is extra of course but i can't imagine it's over $20 for shipping. even ebay is more expensive, about $220 shipped.

I send them out at the same price and we manage to send them ground shipping for $10 because they dont take up too much space but we like to send them in their original box's for those of you who love to see them like they should be.

btw 71.25 per mount and and 37.50 for the transmission

And I assume that is your web address. I will have to do that. I don't see any point in trying something out when a well known alternative exists. Also, I won't look like a choad for having Nismo stickers.

your site says $73 each for the engine mounts and $42 for the trans. midway says $69 each for engine mounts and $40 for the trans, but i have no clue what their shipping is about. if you can do it for $190 shipped you got yourself a deal, just not quite yet. x-mas is coming so i'll be broke soon, then i can save up for nice stuff again like the first couple weeks of january.

here is some information i found on the phase2motortrend web site.

Replace the missing, broken, worn out stock engine and transmission mounts with the Nismo 3pc mounts. The Nismo mounts are made with more rigid bushing material to ensure less vibration from the engine and holds the transmission tighter for easier shifting at high rpm.

* The kit will also fit all KA24E/DE by switching the left and right engine mounts around to right and left instead.

BTW did you say you got your mounts for 80 bucks? if so where did you get a steal like that?
