1993 240sx 5spd hatch

Trying to install the mounts, but the bolts on the nismo ones are about 3-4 mm longer than the stock ones. The extra length is really making it hard to get the nismo mounts in place. I lifted the engine from the oil pan, and the engine is lifted high enough to get the stock mounts out. I don't think I can't jack the engine any higher.

How are you suppose to get the mounts in place? One option was to cut the extra length off, but i don't got anything that cut that.

This job is already a PITA, because the F*&king bolts under the mounts were really stuck in there and now the bolts are a little too long.

Hacksaw time. That's what I would do in this situation.

Or you could unbolt the metal mounts that go in between the nismo mount and the block. They're a pain to get back on though. Well, they where for me. Maybe you'll have better luck.

"Use a jack and a piece of 2x4 about a foot long, raise the engine by the alternator bracket for the right side and the AC bracket for the driver's side. Raising the engine this way, will allow it to twist giving you more room to remove the mount. Slide the old mount out and the new one in. Reattach all of the mounting hardware."

My install was tough, easiest way we found was this: semi bolt the passenger side down and slowly lower engine. i placed a prybar between the mount and the engine mount point, so I could maipulate the engine onto the nismo bolt. took a few tries, some tired arms and 2 beers to get done. Goodluck!

Well i can't even get the mounts into the holes cause the bolts are longer. The engine won't seem to jack any higher, or maybe something is in the way.

Did you read my reply? ^

Using the oil pan as a jack point is risky...

You CAN use the oil pan, I just wouldnt want to dent it.

Finally got the mounts in.

In order to get the mounts in, we dropped the front cross member by an inch for the mounts to get into the holes. It's just 2 bolts on each side to loosen the cross member.

As for switching left and right sides, we did that. We put L and R and L and R. We really debated on what to do, but my friend was saying these were made for SR;s so their R means driver side. Since drivers side is on the right in japan, then we should put L on R on my 240. SOunded weird, but made sense in some way, so we went with it.

You don't have to worry about the denting the hole pan as long as a piece of wood is used. The load will be distributed over a bigger area and not a single point that would cause a dent.

If your looking for the best motor mounts available check out mmr-direct all our products are based off stock mount dimesions and are garunteed to fit. Our mounts are like having solid motor mounts but without all the harsh vibrations. Many of Formula D teams are switching to ours from Nismo.
