FA: What are the top sellers for the current generation Altima/Maxima?AK: There has been a great movement with the NISMO cold air intakes. The cold air intake for the 3.5 Altima is actually stated only for the V6 application for the Altima but we had a hunch that this intake would work for the Maximas as well, we went ahead and test fitted the NISMO cold air intake for the V6 Altima on an 04+ Maxima and sure enough our theory was right! All the mounting points are the same and bolts up perfectly. This is the kinds of things we do here to reach the Nissan community for all Nissan cars. Ever since we discovered this we have been advertising this intake for the Maximas and have been selling well.. For the Altima guys, the OEM SE-R parts have been a great uprgrade. for the non SE-R guys. Everything from front OEM SE-R front and rear fascia's to the SE-R mid pipe and muffler and the SE-R brakes have been moving quite well.

i found this interview/article on w w w . f r e s h a l l o y . c o m

the company that made this discovery is http://www.performancenissanparts.com

my guess is that this NISMO intake will fit on the 00-03 Maxima's as well. the 3.0 & 3.5 Maxima's have the throttle body in the same position...the only problem is the 3.0 has a few extra hoses that plug into the intake. i'm sure u can create your own bungs or swap that part from a different manufacturer.

i emailed the company to see if they would be willing to test fit the intake on a 00-02&03 maxima.

thoughts?

The way the NISMO intake goes into the fender seems to be the only drawback in that theory. I may be wrong, but I do believe the engine bays are a little different.

the engine bays are different, but would Maxima owners be willing to modify car to make it fit, only if it is necessary?

If it is manufactured by the manufacturer of the vehicle (in this case, NISMO is made by Nissan) then there should be no question when it comes to emissions testing.

Hey hey hey. First of all, not all NISMO parts are for off-road use, just their r-tune stuff. Secondly, despite some of the CARB stuff being absolutely stupid, they're pushing manufacturers to get off of their asses and clean up the air as well as making the $4/gallon gas price not seem so bad.
