Ok I am trying to find out if this Nismo lsd is a 2way or 1.5way. I got it used and I am not sure how to find out. There isnt' a parts number on it and the dealership didn't know. Any suggestions would help while I still have it open. Here is a pic. Thanks

That was just a guess.... hahaha

I'm not sure if you can tell from looks, but when you but it on the car you can tell.

1.5 way-works during acceleration2 way-works during acceleration and deceleration.

well i have it on my car and i really can't tell. I mean i jacked it up and put it in first gear and both wheels spin. How would I know by driving it...i mean do i fell anything? and if i down shift would that help with the deceleration?

If you down shift hard both wheels will lock on decel with a 2 way with a 1.5 way not really so easy at all to lock up both.

Yes thats what a lot of knowledgeable folks say.2 way is an aggressive set-up that will be useful for drifting.(I am just learing this stuff myself as I switched my own order from 2 way to 1.5 way for a mechanical Nismo LSD)

http://optionimports.com/ has a good shipped price for a 2 way Nismo mech LSD, and I originally ordered from them, until I realized " Wait. I want a 1.5 way as a street eset-up" (even tho in all fairness the 2 way Nismo LSD is one of the most streetable 2 ways according to Nismo as they set it up not as super aggressive as most 2 ways), so I ordered a 1.5 way from http://www.underground-motorsports.com/ and a Greddy oil Pan from http://optionimports.com/ .

I believe the NICO price is $750 for the 1.5 Way Nismo LSD.

i got this used one for 500 bucks with the housing and the output shafts. It also has a 4.364 gear ratio. I still not quite sure if it is a 1.5 or 2 way. i hear a buzzing from the rear now when i accelerate and when i let go of the gas it still is there.

2 way is a little much for the street. tight corners would be a pain without breaking the tires loose or drifting. 2 way might as well be a welded rear end. 1.5 way is the best.

so there is a 1.5 way nismo, cause i didnt see any on the sites that you have links to on your post, i would buy the nismo 1.5 way nico priced unit for 756, if it is of quality that people say it is. im tired of the peg legging. let alone MO weather is going to be a *****

Can somebody explain to me why 2 way LSD is too aggressive on the street and not recommended?

I did some search but haven't got the answer I need, thanks.

Performancenissanparts.com has the Nismo LSDs for $721 before shipping. I'm pretty sure they're 1.5 way.

I have a 2 way kaaz and it is very streetable. But if you drive like a complete moron all the time and have bad tires a 2 way isnt recommended. Oh yeah and climate also can play a factor in the streetability.

the picture is a red x, and the only difference is inside so if its an outside picture even if it works it wont help

for clarification...if you drift or drag - 2 way

if your auto-x/hpde/road race stuff in general go with 1.5 way

if you only run on the street 1.5 way, that will still be better when you push on the street, unless youre taking youre car to drift/drag like every weekend get the 1.5 way

youd probably do just as good dragging with a 1.5 way even

sigh.... I have 2 way for street never drag or drift. 2 ways arent as harsh as everyone says.
