I recently purchased a nismo exhaust for my 2009 altima coupe 3.5 MT. When i took off my stock exhaust i was surprised to see that the pipes from the cat to the muffler were alot smaller than the stock pipes. It looks like the pipes start small at the cat and gradually get bigger to the muffler. I mean i know that back pressure is important but is this exhaust actually decreasing my hp with smaller pipes? or Did they change the pipes on the 09 models?

Ya know what, I noticed the same thing too. I have an 08 though so I don't think they changed it. If someone could answer this it'd be great. I just might have to put the stock pipe from the cat to the exhaust back on if it'll help...

It's NISMO, what do you expect? They are not known to make power.

my nismo exhaust for the 2.5 is deff larger than my stock exhaust the piping out from the muffler on the stock is like an inch where its welded together and its mad small but on the nismo its nice and open and there are not tight spots.

and from the cat back its a lil about the same but imo- a small bit fatter. mine was more ovular till it got to the gas tank part and flattened on top, but it stayed thick togo w/ the curves i think its like 3'' or so- i'd have to check
