What is the downfall to buying a Nismo Cat-Back exhaust with 8,000 miles on it compared to buying a brand new one (Quality, Performance, etc...)?

I'm asking because the least expensive place online that I have found is Leeparts and they have it for $900 after shipping. I'm selling mine for $700 after shipping. I feel that a $200 savings is substantial, especially for a part that is supposed to last the lifetime of the vehicle, or longer.

To Moderators- Sorry for posting the classifieds here. Thanks for putting them in my signiture.

Its all your own opinion, I got my Nismo Cat-Back for $640 delivered (the first one sold on ebay)....

Some want more of a discount for a used part.

Your gonna have to bring it down lower than 700 man if you want to get rid of it. Used is used. You need to compensate for that.

"moderators"... that is all

kidding. yes 700 for an exhaust with 8,000 miles? that's a bit too pricey, as you say, might as well fork over the extra 200 and get one brand new. furthermore, if i may, i'd like to add that the majority of your parts you were selling are in fact not that big in discount considering the 8,000 mile wear on their life, but that's pretty much my honest opinion.

ultimately, set it at whichever price you believe is comfortable, but if it doesn't sell, at least now you'll know why.

there was another individual here that was selling a used stillen exhaust (for the sedan) that had approximately 3,000 miles on it or so (and i could be wrong in mileage figure but it's within the ballpark), for $500 if you need some form of comparison as to where the price of your nismo should be...

Once used, you must sell it for half price

i agree with everyone else saying that 700 is pretty expensive considering that it is used. someone else is selling a sedan nismo for around 600 but the most i would pay for a used nismo exhaust is around 500 shipped or so.

ARE YOU GUYS SMOKING CRACK OR DID YOU JUST RIDE THE SHORT BUS TO SCHOOL!

How in the heck is 8000 miles a lot for something that will last well over 100,000 miles.

Thanks for everyone's input, but NOBODY has answered the simple question of what is the DIFFERENCE. You know why nobody has answered the question, because there is NO DIFFERENCE! You put my exhaust next to a new one, it will look, perform, and sound the EXACT same.

K&N intakes have a million mile guarantee. So my intake has 3000 miles on it.

So 3000 compared to 1,000,000. Gzz i guess it must be new.

Dude they just say that to make you more confident with the purchase.

Used is used, good luck not selling the exhaust.

By the way, Stillen catback for the 2.5 coupe is 655 brand new shipped.

I paid the same. You can have a shop custom fab you an exhaust for $400-500 and have it sound just as good. I wouldn't buy a used exhaust for over $350-400!

well as far as the actual item goes, it would still pretty much do the same job that it should, new or used (unless there's warpage, holes, or any other unnecessary damage to the piping that may have occurred while driving).

but i don't think the issue is the purpose it serves, we know well what an exhaust does, the issue is the fact that it is used, simple and plain as that. if i were purchasing a used item, i would think that i'm taking a risk (in terms of quality and previous usage) and therefore think that the seller should make it worth my while to purchase something they used.

even in terms of the market, we have individuals selling their nismos or stillens, with less miles and for cheaper... how would you be able to compete to sell your item when clearly it seems more feasible to take less of a risk with these cheaper less used items?

as i have stated before, try to sell at whichever price you feel comfortable, if it doesn't sell, you can adjust and go from there, if you decide that it's not worth it to drop in price, so be it, don't sell it. if you keep at current price and it sells, congrats you sold an overpriced used hunk of worthless metal (i'm kidding). last thing you want to do to further mar yourself is not do your homework but get upset when everyone else has done theirs.

Well Put! When you put "Expert Opinion Only" What were you expecting, people to say that $600 + is a great price for a used exhaust! Get Real! Alot of us paid a little more or less than $600 for a brand new exhaust. It sucks that you missed out and paid full retail, but who's mistake is that. WTF is this thread even about? Price it how you want and see what happens!

Wow, it looks like I've made some friends. jungleboogie- What are you talking about "not doing my homework"? I looked, there is not a single NISMO Exhaust for a 3.5 on Nico, e-bay, Lee-Parts, or a few other places I checked for as little as I'm selling mine, and why are you guys mentioning 2.5's and sedans. This is a 3.5 coupe, that's it.

mpbclutch33- I don't know what post your reading, but nowhere does it mention what I paid for my exhaust. You really shouldn't assume. To let everyone know, I paid $629 shipped off of e-bay last June. It's called supply and demand. The NISMO Exhaust for a 3.5 is expensive right now new, which allows used prices to go up.

Finally- I hope nobody gets all butt hurt, but I did sell my exhaust for $660 shipped ($56 Shipping). I really don't want to say I told you so but, I told you so. Also, the person who bought it is a member of Nico.

Last- dldjros69, I know you will enjoy your crack pipe.

what is there to get butt hurt over? i've stated from the beginning, you set whatever price you want. if it sells, great, if not, too bad. last i checked, $700 =/= $660. if you ask for $700 but sold it for $660, ultimately, you couldn't sell it for $700. semantics, sure, but bottom line, the price had to be lowered to be deemed a satisfactory sale.

furthermore, i hope you don't think that any of us are peeved, or at least i can say that i am not, about this whole situation. you asked for people's opinions, and got upset when you saw what you didn't want to see. the only people that i lie to when asked about my honest opinion, is women...

i'm glad you sold your exhaust for whatever price you wanted. at the end of the day, none of our opinions should've mattered any which way... you should've made the decision to do whatever you wanted, and stomached the outcome regardless.

Besides, i would've considered buying your RSB had it not already been sold

All I know is that all the buyers that didn't buy it were smart buyers . And that is all we need to know.
