Who has a 2008 350z Nismo with the NISMO Dual cold air intakes only? I'm curious as to how your Z sounds. I want to add more HP, but I don't want to get too technical or crazy. Holla-

Sound or HP? Which one are you after? Intake systems with velocity stacks will produce a whistling sound. The Nismo CAI does not have it but the JWT pop chargers do. Both will add minimal HP gains on their own, but combined with a decent exhaust setup and additional intake mods, you'll get some HP out of your HR.

I'm after HP, cause I already have the sound from the NISMO tunned exhaust.

The Nismo S-tune is your stock exhaust, which is not bad, but there are better. Put some decent headers, Test pipes/Hi Flow cats, and a decent midpipe and you should get some more hp out of it. Throw in a good set of pulleys, and a lightweight flywheel to free up more HP. The next step after that is F/I (safe to about 400whp with your stock internals). Going F/I will put some stress to your engine cutting its lifespan short. Unless you want to go all motor, which will cost you 5 times the cost of F/I for a less hp. Fully built N/A motors offer a smooth, reliable power across the RPM range.Good Luck!

If you're after HP, don't waste your money on CAI. save your money for F/I.

But the intake's in the 07 and 08s are pretty decent. K&N drop in filters will work just fine, but if you want to say you did something and show off, the JWT dual pop chargers work well

I'm not sure if motordyne made plenum spacers for the HR, but spacers produce a decent hp increase and a better throttle response with minimal costs and labor.

xj.....the plenum spacers aren't giving much gain like they did in the DE motors. Nissan had pretty much solved the plenum flow problems with the HR motors. The HR motors have different intake plenum than the DE's

That explains the improved power output from the later generations. Power for your dollar: F/I would be the place to look.

I'm with ldstang with this, leave the intake alone until you're set on whether or not you're going F/I (K&N drop-in will do). The airboxes on the hr's are pretty efficient with the improved velocity stacks. You can work on your exhaust build because you'll benefit from it either way you go (hold off on the headers).
