hello all. i have a question i hope someone cal help me with. i have a 2003 350z. i got the clutch replaced with the nismo clutch and lightweight flywheel and now i have some rattling sounds. i figured it was the heat shield or whatever but the mechanic who did the work says it's the clutch and it's "working as intended." this dosen't make much sence to me but i'm not exactly mechanically enclined. is this guy taking me to the cleaners? i expected more vibration but the rattle comes and goes. usally when i'm in the low end of a gear. any ideas?

In the Nismo catalog it mentions that the clutch will add some rattling...i get that noise too but i haven't confirmed my clutch type yet. did the clutch smooth up your travel between gears?

You will also get a little bit of noise from light weight flywheels as well.

ya the clutch took some getting used to hehe. shifts are smooth and fast. i'm happy with the performance. it's just the rattle here and there i don't like. the mechanic mentioned that this clutch had no springs versus the OEM one. not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm prettu sure the nismo disk uses a sprung hub, I ran a nismo disk in my S30 for a while, I caught it on fire, well ok it was just smouldering but still kinda crappy, I now run Competition clutches stage 4 and even it has a sprung hub, generally speaking nismoperformance parts tend to be fairly tame

If it is an unsprung disc then that is why. The springs in the disc help to damp torsional vibrations. But if you don't have the springs you will hear it. If this is the case, nothing is wrong.
