from looking at the NISMO catalog i see two interesting things,

the part numbers for the SR20DE and CA18DET clutch disks seem to be the same:-

SR20DE:Clutch Disc [Ceramics Metal A]P#: 30100-RS550Y= 28,650

Clutch Disc [Ceramics Metal B]P#: 30100-RS500Y= 28,650

Clutch CoverP#: 30210-RS526Y= 34,000

CA18DETClutch Disc [Ceramics Metal A]P#: 30100-RS550Y= 28,650

Clutch Disc [Ceramics Metal B]P#: 30100-RS500Y= 28,650

Clutch CoverP#: 30210-RS550Y= 27,580

(the clutch cover/presure plate is obviosly bigger for the SR and i think this was the problem with fitting the SR clutches on the CA.

and the second interesting thing is this

Big Operate Sylinder P#: 30620-RS520 Y=13,930for CA18DET, SR20DET [dia: 20.54mm (STD 19.05mm)] / can not fit with twin plate on CA18DET

- does this mean that NISMO makes a CA18DET twin plate clutch???

i am going to be using the 3 puck solid clutchmasters SR20DE disk that my friend has in that case for now, and upgrade to hopefully a twin disk when the engine is broken in and i begin to wind up the boost...

just exploring different clutch kits..

Clutchmasters actually says they have a twin disk set up for the CA that they say is good for 500hp = price $ 1500.00 (lonnie - [email protected])

and then there is always the magical exploding clutch from SPEC :D

keep an eye on your spec clutch and inspect and re-tourque it often to make sure it doesnt/isnt slipping and that the cover is securely fastened to the flywheel...

after seeing that stage 3 explode on that SR it scared me... i like my legs..

clutch masters also has a stage 4 for the CA18DET

Clutchmasters stage 4 kit part# 06-039-hdcb price$ 465.00

how much is the stage 4 clutchmasters kit good for?the price sounds good and i need a clutch but i cant afford to keep checking on it and making sure its all ok. i do that with enough parts on my car already. i was going to buy a spec but if its going to explode and damage stuff id much rather drop a small fortune in gold on a hks or nismo kit. some of those things have prices equivalent to the GNP of Samalia. its rediculous.

Well, i know for a fact that the OS Giken GTI-R twin plate clutch/flywheel combo works for the CA18 as well, you just need to make sure to get the correct Throw out bearing.

those pictures of the exploded spec sr clutch, posted on the net sure made alot of waves, but that is the only case I've seen. Are they more ? ...otherwise that would be suspect. I think Secret? or Enjuku used spec clutches on quite a few hopped up SRs without incident.

cuzano? is running/sells a $289? Hyperclutch on his moded ca18det. Thats one proven option there. Says other stages are available also.

Daikin is an oem supplier and offers various stages, but you gotta "nail down" the application for the ca.

You can also have a local clutch rebuilding shop beef up your oe one. Preety cheap and they have vast experience, so you'll end up with the "right" clutch for the job.

I've found 2 ca18det imported with a 3 puck sprung hub, metalic pad clutch disc with a stock looking pressure plate. What are these ?

What are these ?[/quote]thats what mine came with, after getting it re=lined it slipped after a while and that was at stock boost, i am sure it was the tired cover/presure plate that was the cause..

i was thinking of just getting that clutch and cover rebuilt, but my builder says that most clutch manufacturere have better methods and materials to rebuild the clutches and presure plates you got to be carefull with at my HP level, but after seeing the SPEC unit and hearing that it was just a re-built OE clutch (in the SR case it was a re-built Z32 NA) makes em think.....

but i think i am going with the Clutch Masters.

no one seems to have the NISMO CA cover available... (but i think the NISMO KA cover si the same and if so courtesy Nissan may have them) but you still got to ge the correct disk,.

Mine came with that same kinda clutch also. I think it looked like an HKS clutch. But mine had a bad rear main seal and had leaked oil on it, so it was shot. Oh well, minus the light clutch pressure, I'm VERY happy w/my Stage 3 SPEC clutch.

yes, i have gotten parts from australia. i try and get all the parts i possibly can from perfect run ( http://www.perfectrun.com.au ). i bought my hks intake from them and it was here in less than a week. they are overpriced on some things, but they are very helpful and have everything they have on their web page in stock at all times. unfortunately, they have nismo and cusco clutches for every car but ones with the ca18det.

here is the NISMO cover from http://www.courtesyparts.com a authorised NISMO dealer:

Code: 30210-RS600USPrice:$271.84

Genuine NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International) part.

240sx 1989-1998 Pressure: 750 kg

as you can see the part numbers are diffrernt between the CA and KA part numbers but supposidly they work.. i would love to speak to someone at courtesyparts.com to see if they have the CA cover or if infact that KA cover they have lsited is the correct thing just numbered different for US cars with the KA for stock and tracking reasons (which i believe it is)

What are you guys planning on using for a flywheel with the single plate clutches?

unfortunately the stock flywheel...

getting a JUN flywheel will be expensive.

i am wondering if the GA or even SR fwd flywheels may work... or even the fwd KA flywheel.

how well does that cusco clutch hold up? im about to do mine (christmas present) and i only want to do it once. im eventually going to be making horsepower in the upper 200s to lower 300s range and dont want it to slip on me under any circumstances. should i just go with a twin plate or will a good single hold it?

My SPEC stage 3 is good to about 350ft/lbs or torque, wich would be close to 400hp with our motors. It's a 6 puck, sprung hub, single plate clutch.

hahaha, well, a little more than getting everything seperate, I think they go for a little over a grand. Imagine 350-400 for clutch and 550 for a flywheel.
